Thank you for the ongoing support, AABM, and here's the fine new addition-chapter eight. Zu-Bait.
| Quote: | Chapter 8: Zu-Bait
Andy and Rick walked out of the old sailor’s home, wondering what they should do now. This was clearly one of the more boring Sevii islands, considering that most of them had better geographical features for trainers to explore. For a while, they just stood in the Autumn breeze, enjoying a panorama of rocking sea waves and flying Wingull.
“Hey.” said Andy. “What about those caves over there?”
He pointed northward from town, where a series of caverns loomed over Navel City.
“Excellent idea, little buddy.” said Rick. “As trainers, we must explore!”
They began to walk through the bustling little town, seeing the usual pep, battles, shoppers, sellers yelling out their goods, and nothing out of the ordinary. Andy breathed in the cool, crisp sea breeze, and appreciated it. They arrived to a corner of town where the pavement ended into dry dirt, and a few pine trees, leading up to a large cave’s mouth, pitch black as midnight. Nearby, still on the pavement, a few people sold goods on large wooden carts.
“Maybe we need a flashlight.” Andy suggested.
“Aw, come on, don’t be chicken!” said Rick.
That made Andy angry, because Andy had been through many scary situations, seeing his parents die, living with Amin, and everything. He was much stronger than any of his peers, which was why the one thing he did not tolerate was someone who had not experienced what he had call him chicken. Still boiling, Andy replied; as coolly as he could,
“Hey, hey, Mr. Hotshot, I’ve been through more than you have, so you can’t claim to be braver than me.”
Rick’s face flushed, he looked offended, but said nothing for a moment. Then, answered,
“Right. Sorry, I was just teasing you.”
“Right. Forget it.” replied Andy.
An old, bearded peddler who had watched them asked,
“Well, if you’re going to the cave, go! Or you could by some supplies. I got a special stock of cave items right here. That’s why I sell my wares beside that cave.”
Andy looked up to see the man gesturing at his large, wooden Mall-Style cart. It held dozens of wares and trinkets that all looked useful. Andy and Rick walked up to the cart. Andy began eyeing the wares, Rick began to grab and examine them by hand.
Andy saw a few things, he saw some batteries, a few black PokeBalls with a green pattern, an old miner helmet, a rope with a tag that read, “escape”, and a pickaxe. He saw Rick move on to the other side, examine it a while, then go back to the front, grinning.
“I found some flash lights, little buddy. Look.”
Andy looked at the pair of silver flashlights as Rick turned them on to try them out.
“We’ll take them.” said Rick, paying the old seller.
“What’s this?” asked Andy, holding up one of the strange dark PokeBalls he had seen.
“That, that there’s a Dusk Ball, son.” said the man. “Works best in the darkness of a cave.
Andy examined the ball carefully, feeling the smoothness, feeling the green netted pattern, then, decided he would take it. After he paid for it, as he and Rick walked towards the cave, the pine leaves crunching under their feet, the old man waved and said,
“Watch out for Zubat! They may bite!”
Andy looked back at the man, who gave him a thumbs up, then Andy asked Rick,
“What’s a Zubat?”
Rick took his PokeDex out of his pocket, and held the small red device on his palm.
“This, little buddy, is a Zubat.” he said.
He pushed a small blue button on the device, which opened up on his palm. Then he messed with a PokeBall shaped button until a small picture of a blue bat-like Pokemon appeared on the screen. It was a dark blue color, with a small, thin tail, large catlike ears, and no eyes. The skin under it’s wings was tinted with a vivid indigo color, like it’s ears. Andy instantly liked the small critter.
The device’s small green light bulb lit up as it droned in a robotic voice:
“Zubat, the bat Pokemon. Though blind, they get around well with echolocation. They eat mostly fruits and berries, though occasionally they suck the energy and blood out of another Pokemon, or even humans. Found mostly in caves, where they sleep during the day, unless startled.”
The small device gave a click and turned off. Rick put it in his pocket again, and said,
“There you have it. Watch out for those little fuckers, though. They’re pretty tough.”
Andy nodded, but actually hoped he could see one. He liked small, swift Pokemon like those, like his Sentret. Then, he and Rick awkwardly walked into the large cave, turning on the flashlights, and looking around to see nothing but stalactites and stalagmites, lazily in place.
The ground was rougher here as they walked through, occasionally aiming their flashlights at something when they heard a sound. All they had seen so far was a few Spinarak walking around. Rick had squished one with his shoe, Andy winced at the crunching sound.
Andy was startled as the cave lit up in green light, but then saw it was Rick, sending out his Zangoose.
“So he can have some fun, he can see in the dark, you know.” explained Rick.
Zangoose just ran ahead of them, darting through the darkness. Rick and Andy continued their pace. Andy looked around to see a strange glimmering powder at the sides of the caves, it came in many bright colors. As they proceeded it increased in quantity.
Andy yelled as he fell into a small pit in the uneven ground.
“You OK, little buddy?” asked Rick, helping him up.
Andy’s reply was a stiff groan, and they continued walking.
Then, some squeaking sounds came from above. Andy and Rick heard Zangoose give a groan.
Then, as their light hit Zangoose, it covered it’s face with it’s claws, as dozens of Zubat swarmed from the ceiling. Zangoose began to slash at them, then, some began to fly at Andy and Rick, screeching loudly. Rick swore, covering his face, as the dozens of furry mammals flew over their heads, then the crowd of them cleared up as the majority flew out of the cave.
Andy whimpered as he removed his hands from his face, dropping his flashlight, which fell with a thud, then turned off. He then saw a flash of light in front of him, and a Zubat letting out screeching sounds, small, thin waves of light flew from it’s open mouth, hitting Andy softly, and doing something strange to him, the effect of a confuse ray.
He felt a strong, strange, crazy sensation of vertigo all over his body. He did not remember anything about himself, and heard a strong sound throbbing inside his head. He saw everything in a strong red color, and saw the kid in front of him shaking him nearly to pieces. He groaned, and began to drool, and his tongue lolled out of his mouth. He slugged the older kid in the face as hard as he could, to shut him up. Then, he was about to fall over, pass out, when a sharp pain in his arm brought him back to his senses.
He looked up to see the Zubat that had confused him, biting his arm sharply, the blood it was slurping up seemed to glow silver as it entered the Pokemon’s mouth: he was draining Andy’s energy!
Andy slapped the Zubat off, coming back to his senses, all he remembered, was he had been very confused, and had slugged Rick hard in the mouth. Rick was glowering at him as blood dripped from his lower lip. Andy felt weak from the energy drain.
“Sorry.” said Andy to Rick, who’s gaze softened. Then the Zubat came back and tried to bite Andy again.
“Tough little guy, aren’t you? Go Sentret.”
The white ball flew out of Andy’s hand and hit the floor, and an eager Sentret popped out, baring it’s own set of tiny fangs at the bat like Pokemon. Rick aimed the flashlight at the Zubat so Andy could attack, he seemingly had forgotten what had happened seconds ago.
“Sentret, slam.” said Andy.
Sentret obediently launched itself into the air with it’s tail, slamming it’s entire body on the hovering bat, who fell to the ground and began to struggle getting up, as it had no feet.
“Now, scratch.” said Andy.
Sentret lunged forward and hit the Zubat with it’s claws, sending it flying into the air, then landing with a sound like rustling leaves. The Zubat managed to get up and flew at Sentret, screeching. It hit Sentret with a wing attack, by striking Sentret with the sharp sides of it’s wings.
Sentret gave a wail of pain, then continued baring it’s teeth.
“Get at it, Sentret, Fury Swipes!”
Sentret vaulted into the air, and brought the bat-like Pokemon down with a tough slash, aimed downwards, as the little bat fell to the ground, Sentret landed on it, and continued to beat it until the Zubat’s tongue lolled out of it’s mouth. That was Fury Swipes for an angry Sentret.
Sentret jumped off, giving a squeal of triumph, waving tiny fists into the air, giving a hooting noise.
Andy looked at the injured Zubat, who was on the ground, squirming.
“Uh, uh.” said Andy, pointing at the escaping Pokemon. “You’ve given me too much trouble to just set you free.”
Andy drew the Dusk Ball, and threw it at the Zubat, who gave a screech. The ball hit the Pokemon, then bounced off it’s body and spun in the air, then, as it’s spin let it aim at the bat again, it opened up, letting out a flash of bright, dazzling, dark purple light enveloped the Zubat. The Zubat turned the color of the light, until it seemed to be the light. Then, the light faded into the closing ball, which fell to the ground and began to spin rapidly. Then, it got slower and slower until it was just giving feeble shakes on the ground. It shook slower, and slower, and the time between movements became longer. It finally stopped moving, and a few seconds later, a small popping sound emitted from the ball, letting a small amount of sparks fly from the button. Zubat was now Andy’s.
Andy screeched, and jumped into the air, flailing his fist.
“Yoo-hoo! I caught a Pokemon, I caught a Pokemon, I FUCKING CAUGHT A POKEMON!!!!”
His excitement was too much, he now felt embarrassed at the little outburst he had had, because Rick looked like he was trying not to laugh.
“Great, little buddy. You got a Zubat, and I got a smack in the face. Let’s go home with our souvenirs.”
They were both quiet for a few seconds. Then, at the same time, they burst out, roaring with laughter.
Then, Andy picked up the ball. Then, he returned Sentret, who looked bewildered at the fact that he was no longer the only Pokemon for Andy. As Rick returned Zangoose, they walked out of the cave together.
They stopped at the Pokemon center to heal their partners before heading off to the old Sailor’s house, now that the sun was setting.
***
Old sea captain Moreno chuckled heartily, sitting on his stool, after Andy and Rick finished telling him their story. Then he calmed down, and looked at them both in turn in the eyes. His eyebrow arched up, then he said,
“Eh, it’s good to see youngsters like you two having fresh, new adventures. Now, how about you settle in for the night and sit down with me for some dinner?”
“Sure.” said Rick. Andy was hungry, as well. He had not realized how hungry he was with all the excitement of his day.
They sat down after showering, and moaned with pleasure as they saw a pot of steamed Krabby being set in front of them. They spoke as they ate.
“So, Mr. Moreno.” said Rick between mouthfulls of pink crab flesh. “I think Andy and I need to leave the island tonight, or tomorrow. Do you know of a ship that can take us to seven island?”
The old sailor looked up.
“Why the hurry? Ah, anyways, if you wait for dawn to arrive, I can get you to ole Quest Island of Infinity within a half an hour on my boat.”
“That is fine with us.” said Rick, quickly, then continued eating.

My land, pretty much everything happened in this here chapter! Such as waltzing through what was know about Navel City, a quick cave switcheroo and... OMG... Andy caught a new pokémon himself?! Cool!
So, it was a Zubat, huh? Because it's a "Swift'n'small pokémon"? That leads me to believe this kid will eventually get some nifty ones indeed, like Jolteon/Manectric/Raticate, etc. Or... perhaps his likes... change within the story?
Come to think of it, when is the female charry gonna appear? Chapter 10? _________________

Hello, AABM, I know you said I write too often, but thing is, after today's update, I'm probably not going to have time to update until after a few days..so, yeah, update, dude.
This chapter's a bit mysterious, and you may have noticed the guys' first glimpse at our female charrie. No, just so you know, you don't see much of her in the chapter, only a few lines. But read thoroughly.
Yes, the last paragraph or so is from Rick's point of view. Yes, go figure on the title. You might figure out what it refers to if you think.
| Quote: | Chapter 9: the men in grey
“Andy, wake up, dude. It’s morning. Come on, man, wake up.”
Andy groaned as he heard Rick’s voice telling him to wake up. Then he felt Rick’s rough, cold hands pushing him. He then opened his eyes to see golden morning light filling the room. He got up from Moreno’s couch, stretched, and yawned.
“Well, little buddy, I guess we leave the island today.” said Rick.
Andy nodded, then noticed that Rick was fully dressed, bathed, and brushed, so was Moreno, who sat on his stool across the room, in a beige vest and pants, with a white muscle shirt under the vest. He nodded, looking at Andy wake up.
“Anderson, you can get ready to leave, then we can eat breakfast.” said the old sailor.
“Yes, thank you.” said Andy, and bathed, then dressed.
After they ate breakfast and brushed their teeth, and they all decided to go ahead and leave.
“Come on, boys.” said Moreno, as they walked out of his cabin, and down to the docks.
They walked down the beach, admiring the white sand, and the Wingull walking about the beach. The sea seemed completely calm today, as they clambered onto the boat. Andy checked to make sure both of his Poke-Balls were strapped at his waist, then sat down in one of the back seats of the boat. Rick sat beside him, and Moreno launched his motorboat, and they were off.
***
Despite the fact that nothing much interesting had happened since they left the harbor, Andy was enjoying the scenery of bypassing bird Pokemon, the calm, deep blue ocean, and the wind on his face. He looked around to see what he could see, and when he could not see anything, he became submerged in his own thoughts.
He remembered that he had not taken his Zubat out of its ball since the night before, when he had tried making it eat some fruit, and it had eaten just a bit. It did not seem to like Andy much, and Andy noted to try to get friendly with it, try to make it feel safe. After all, his small male Zubat had always liven in the wild, it had never been in captivity before.
Then he shifted in his seat, wondering what he should do to entertain himself, and so decided to try and play with his Zubat, before trying to get Sentret to get along with it. He drew his Dusk Ball from his waist, and threw it up in the air, it let out it’s purple and black glare before Zubat appeared, eager and hovering in the air, its wings beating steadily.
“Hi, little guy.” said Andy, trying to pet the Pokemon, but Zubat moved aside.
“What’s wrong?” asked Rick, looking at the pair.
“I don’t know.” said Andy. “We’ll have to have it checked at a Pokemon Center, you think one of the nurses will know why it’s unfriendly?”
“Sure.” said Rick, bending back in his chair, then Andy returned Zubat, and leaned back as well, taking in the fresh scent of the ocean. He was bored soon, and drifted off to sleep.
***
Andy woke up when he heard the voice of Moreno talking. His neck was stiff, and he groaned. Then he looked up to see he was still in the boat, at sea with Rick and the old sailor. Moreno was pointing forward, and had just said,
“Well, there’s the island up ahead.”
Andy woke up completely, and looked up to see the large, craggy, and close shape of Seven Island, the quest island. Then, turned to see Rick, who asked Moreno,
“Hey, what kind of interesting things does this island have?”
Moreno turned around to look at them, and told them what features the island had.
“Well, it has the Sevault Canyon, the Tanoby Ruins, the Tanoby Key, and the Trainer’s Tower.”
Andy got up in his chair.
“What’s the Trainer’s Tower?!”
As he steered, Moreno explained to Andy about the tower.
“Well, it used to be used for the trainer’s challenge, but eh, it’s been years, now, it’s just used as a small Pokemon Battle Stadium, where every week or so, they have a small tournament where trainers pit off against each other.”
This struck Andy as interesting, so he asked,
“What exactly is the Battle Tournament?”
The old man explained to Andy what the tournament was:
“Well, it’s small, not a big tournament. They take eh, the first sixteen trainers to sign up on the tournament days. Then, they pair them up randomly so they can battle each other, single battle, normal thing. Then, from that first round, there should be eight winners, who then are paired up again, leaving four winners, who then, pair up again, to battle each other in the final round, where the winner earns that week’s prize.”
It sounded interesting to Andy, and he noted to take a look at this battle stadium, and he knew that the impulsive Rick was twitching with anticipation as well. He looked forward to see the island getting closer, and felt excited knowing that he was going to continue to explore.
The boat began to approach the island, Andy could now see every craggy feature and building. This island had been left untouched besides the small city, it was virtually untouched, and thus it was a very natural place. The people here were accustomed to the craggy grounds, and loved the starry nights here, because this island was away from pollution, unlike Johto or Kanto, and the stars could be seen like nowhere else.
As they arrived on the small pier of the town, Andy decided to take in the scenery for a few moments. There were only a few houses, and a Center, and shop. Andy realized what was strange about the town: all the buildings were built around a large, silver, dome roofed structure. It was probably the Trainer’s Tower. In the distance, there was much more island, Andy could tell this was a lot bigger than Birth Island or Navel Rock.
***
They clambered off the boat, ready to be off, and Moreno looked at them, then said,
“Well, boys, I guess I have to go back to my island, after pumping a bit of gas.”
Andy shook the man’s hand, saying,
“Goodbye, sir, thanks for everything!”
Rick patted him on the shoulder, saying,
“See you, Bill.”
“I’ll see you two boys later. Go have yourselves a fun adventure on Quest Island.” said Moreno, waving.
Andy and Rick walked along the docks of the small pier, and then found themselves automatically walking towards the red roofed Pokemon Center, where they’d probably rent their rooms, and find out about the island.
“Well, little buddy, let’s settle in a bit.” said Rick, as they walked into the sliding glass doors.
Andy found the center oddly familiar to the one on Navel Rock, and was startled to see that the nurse could have been exactly the same on from Navel Rock. Deciding not to ask any questions about this, he and Rick walked up to the counter where the Nurse Joy stood with a Chansey.
“Hello, miss, could we get ourselves a room for two?” said Rick to the nurse, cringing at how strange this sounded.
“Sure thing, boys.” said the nurse, and began to click on a computer, then said,
“OK, let me ask you how long you’ll stay? Or would you like to pay later? We get a lot of trainers like that, who are not sure how long they will stay.”
“Uh, OK.” said Rick, then she began to lead them up the stairs of the center, towards the rooms.
***
“And here is your room!” said the nurse in her cheerful voice, giving Rick the key to a white door that read “Room 18”.
Rick thanked her, then as she left, the eager boys opened the door to where they would be staying.
They entered a small room, that had a brown carpet, and a closet beside the door, which had, like the inside of the door, a small mirror. A bunk bed sat in the corner, and there was a couch on the far end of the room, by a window with a view outside. In front of the couch was a small TV set. Andy opened another door near the corner of the room to enter a perfectly clean bathroom, with a shower, a sink, and a toilet.
“Well, little buddy, let’s rest a little while, then we’ll go explore.” said Rick, sitting on the couch, after turning the TV on. Andy decided to relax a little himself.
They sat there for a while, watching a channel with a replay of the last tournament the Battle Tower had had, last week.
***
Andy yawned. They had sat there for a while, watching some blood heated battles, but the show had ended, and a boring news show had came on. Rick got up, stretched, and said,
“Ah, let’s go explore the island, this is getting boring.”
Andy was about to get up, when he heard “Team Rocket!” on the news.
“Wait.” said Andy, and wide eyed, him and Rick watched the news report.
“We’re here in Pallet Town, Kanto, with a briefing by the news reporters, Gabby and Ty.”
The news report rolled over to a small town, and a woman reporter who spoke, as a male reporter seemed to be interviewing people in the distance, with his own small camera and microphone. The woman spoke.
“I am International News Channel Reporter Gabby, here with a report on the latest crime by the notorious Team Rocket.”
She waved, and the camera panned in on a large white building with a broken window, some people stood there, and Gabby put the microphone in front of a tall, young man with messy brown hair, purple pants, and a lab coat.
“We’re here with Professor Gary Oak, head of the Oak Pokemon Research Lab, live!” said Gabby.
“So, Prof. Oak, what has happened here?” she asked.
The young scientist spoke into the microphone,
“Team Rocket broke into my lab and stole a large stock of the starter Pokemon I have to give out to trainers of age!”
He sounded extremely angry, then the news reporter spoke again.
“Team Rocket continues to attack, and Kanto is not sure what to do about it all, the region of Kanto is in distress about why this gang is nearly taking over Kanto.”
She stopped to interview a startled bystander.
“Well, sir, what have you got to say about all this?”
The man talked into the mike.
“Well, I hear that lately Team Rocket has been making more attacks all over Kanto, and my relatives in Sevii are telling me that more sightings of them are arousing in Kanto.”
Andy and Rick turned the TV off, Andy was extremely stirred up by this, and he had no clue what to say, except, to himself more than to Rick,
“They’re back.”
They went downstairs to explore the island and try to forget about the issue for now, they could not just look for the Rockets now, anyways.
***
They went downstairs to see some people seeing the news report on a TV downstairs. Everyone was chattering.
“That’s bull****!” said a man with a cup of coffee, leaning on the counter.
“Come on, the Rockets have not been seen in the Sevii since five years ago in the Birth Island attack!” said another, younger man.
“The Rockets are going over the top.” snorted a young girl in a cool, clear voice, sitting in the corner of the room.
She was about Andy’s size, with long black hair, highlighted brown. She was slim, a bit pretty, with narrow eyes, green, and calculating up to a pointed nose, and a chin held high. She wore an orange polo shirt unbuttoned, and checker patterned shorts with a lighter orange to them.
“They need to be taught a lesson.” she said, her cold, crystal green eyes narrowing even more, as if they were about to melt the walls of the center.
“Agreed.” said Andy, almost without noticing, and the girl turned to him, and narrowed her eyes once more.
“What would you kids know about teaching the rockets a lesson?!” wheezed an old man in the other corner.
“Well, I know you’d probably be too cowardly to do it.” said the girl coolly, turning to the man, who faltered under her gaze, blushing, as someone else in the room laughed at him.
“Clever girl…” said the man, and walked out of the center.
“At least more clever than you.” she said as the door closed. Then she stood up, and walked out of the center as well.
Rick was asking the nurse about the battle dome, while he did that, Andy saw two men in the corner he had not noticed before, dressed in grey, who whispered to each other, pointing towards the door the girl had walked out of. Then, as they walked out of the center, they put on their heads matching caps, and Andy swore, that on the top of their caps, he saw the bold red R emblem.
***
“Hey, Andy. I got some flyers for the Battle Tournament.” said Rick, excited, then hesitated as he saw Andy trembling, his fists clenched, looking out the door of the center.
“Bud?” asked Rick, looking at Andy.
“Come on.” muttered Andy in a deep groaning voice. He ran out of the center.
“Huh?” said Rick. He stuffed the flyer into his pocket and ran out of the center after Andy, who knew what the little guy could be up to?
He walked out of the center to see Andy looking westwards, at two men dressed in grey who seemed to be following a black and brown haired girl towards an alley.
“Oh, Christ.” said Rick, beginning to run after Andy.

Okay, these kids finally got out of the ever-boring Navel Rock and didn't get to see Lugia or Ho-oH, that's fine. And what else? No way... the female charrie's just gotten... somthing resembling a cameo?! YAY!
My Land! Such great newz! You finally compelled yourself to mention the so-called female character in, who's name AND personality are still clouded; however, she's clearly got to have something against Team Rocket as well. But, you know what they say about new charries that join the crew, don'tcha? They say that these new charries usually got... their own party of pkmn as well! Which means that this girl's pokes will come in handy.
Oh, and another thing... The two of them got to get the same room? I mean, why wouldn't they get their own separate rooms? I know their quite the best friends, but still; looks kinda awkward.
The Trainer Tower? I hope to see it soon!
Things have turned just thrillin'! I'm impatient for the next intallment... talk about installments... let's see if I update my story later, 'cause I got something. _________________

Glad to see you liked my last chapter. Now, here's a new one, I would have written more stuff happening, but it already is extremely long as it is. Now, I've failed to describe the rockets much, and all, but, all the juice comes later!
| Quote: | Chapter 10: Susan Kramer
Every vein in the body of Anderson Platt burned fiercely with a strong sense of fury as he walked slowly towards the two men in grey, murderers of his family. For obvious reason, seeing the two Rockets had ignited the anger into Andy. He felt so much resentment towards these men who had ruined his life, so much resentment, he felt sick with anger, he could not even stand it. He felt like he would throw up.
Rick caught up to him, asking between pants of breath, “Are…..those……are, they….?”
“Yes.” grumbled Andy. “Rockets.” and he continued walking.
They were following that girl who had spoken about them inside the Poke-Center. She suddenly turned in an alley, without noticing that they, too, turned at the alley. Andy and Rick caught up and walked unnoticed into a dark, dusty alley open both ways. A large, square green city trash bin was there, Andy and Rick took cover behind it right before one of the Rockets turned, as if he had sensed them.
The girl now turned around to look at the two Rockets, looking startled, not by who they were, but because she had not known they were following her. The Rockets were a short, dark skinned man with black hair, and a taller, skinny man who’s hair Andy could not see under his cap.
The girl was standing up at least at Andy’s height, she wore small black shoes, with short, checker patterned, yellow and orange picnic-shorts, revealing long, light skinned slender legs leading up to a skinny and limber body, covered by a light orange polo-shirt, unbuttoned, revealing a black undershirt. She was light skinned, and had startling green eyes that could have melted concrete. She had light pink, slim lips, and a pointed nose that went with her held-high chin, and now that Andy saw her well, she had black hair with copper highlights. Two Poke Balls were strapped to her waist. She was very pretty.
“Oh, hello.” she said, looking at the two rockets.
The Rockets looked startled that she was not scared at all of them. The first one spoke, the short one, in a wheezy, raspy voice,
“Don’t ‘hello’ us, girl! You know, you really must be a tough gal to be talking **** about us Rockets!”
The girl smiled serenely, nodded, and said,
“Well, I was just speaking my mind.”
The second Rocket began to laugh loudly.
“Foolish girl, no one dares speak about teaching us Rockets a lesson, it’s us that will teach you a lesson, in pain!”
The girl’s expression did not change one bit, Andy had the feeling she did not really have anything against them, but had just made a simple comment. She spoke again in a cool clear voice,
“A lesson? Why would people like you need to teach me a lesson? I don’t need a lesson, and pigs like you don’t need to teach me a lesson, nor do they have room to teach me a lesson.”
The taller Rocket twitched with fury.
“Blah, blah, girl, whatever, we’re going to make you eat those words. With blood!” he said bluntly at first, then in an angrier tone.
The girl still remained calm, as if she was waiting to see what they would do, she looked amused.
“Look, I have better things to do than to listen to you idiots babble.” she said, and began to walk away, but the short Rocket ran forward and grabbed her arm. She turned around and gave him the slap of his life. Andy winced as he heard it, it was the loudest slap he had ever heard.
The Rocket grabbed his cheek, and screamed with rage, running forward again, but the girl now kicked him, right where it hurt him, and the man stumbled back, falling on the dusty alley floor, this girl was tough, quirky, and clever. The Rocket looked at her with a ‘How could you?’ expression on his face, which was contorted with rage and pain.
The girl just winked at the Rocket in a sly and foxy expression, then turned her attention on the second Rocket, who ran at her, she kicked him in the same manner, and he, without falling, yelped like a dying animal, then said,
“Who the hell do you think you are, chick?!”
The girl laughed, then looked at him, an angrier expression on her, almost like a shadow on her face.
“Susan Kramer, at your service, Mister ‘Rocket‘. Or Sue to those who are friends.”
The man ran at her again, while the other still writhed on the ground. But as the Rocket approached her, she stamped her foot, and he backed off, biting his lip and yelping in fear of her nasty kick.
“Don’t mess with me.” she said bluntly.
The men looked scared. The shorter one stood up and reached at his belt for a Poke Ball, and it was weird to Andy how they carried no weapons. He silently threw a Poke Ball into the air to reveal under its red glow a short, fat, pig like Pokemon, a Mankey.
The other Rocket smiled, and did the same, screaming,
“Go, Kecleon!”
A small, green reptile appeared, who for a minute changed into a variety of colors, before giving a small screech and turning green again. The two Pokemon, Mankey and Kecleon, looked ready to attack the girl, who still did not look worried at all.
The Mankey gave a sound like a hoot and a howl, and the Kecleon hissed, and they both slowly approached her, she brought her hands to her waist, and, holding her two Poke Balls with one hand, tossed them forward, and screamed,
“Go, Ralts!”
Out came a small, white, humanoid creature with a small green helmet on its head, covering its eyes.
“Go, Vulpix!”
Out came a, also small, red, fox-like Pokemon, with six bushy tails, and beady black eyes. Small bangs of hair went down from its forehead and touched its small orange nose.
The four Pokemon looked at each other, the Mankey and Kecleon hissing and hooting, the Vulpix giving a growl, and the Ralts giving a series of high pitched squeals. The Pokemon prepared to battle.
Andy knew a bit about double battling, and decided to remain hidden and watch, to come out when help was needed by the girl.
“Scratch, Kecleon!”
“Low kick, Mankey!”
Both Pokemon ran to attack the Ralts first, then the girl smiled as if she knew that would happen, and said,
“Ralts, use Double Team!”
The Ralts growled, and it’s body became transparent, and it seemed to be, without moving itself, spinning in circles around the two Pokemon, and it looked like a bunch of Ralts were surrounding them. The Mankey looked confused, it went forward and kicked the nearest Ralts, which went flying backward, hit the ground, and exploded into a puff of smoke. All the other look alike Ralts went forward and all seemed to tackle the Mankey, who flinched in fear. But all of them disappeared except for one in front of Mankey, and the small Pokemon was sent back and fell to the ground.
Then the Kecleon seemed to change color, until it could barely be seen in all the grey color of the alley.
“Roar, Vulpix!” yelled the girl.
Her small fox gave a loud roar, it ruptured Andy’s eardrums. The Kecleon turned back to green, and looked very frightened. The Mankey, who had been getting up, froze in place. The girl smiled, then, said,
“Ralts, Psychic! Vulpix, Will-O-Wisp!”
The Vulpix opened it’s mouth, and light erupted from it, letting forth several blasts of blue and black fire, which went forward at high speed.
The Ralts grabbed its head with both its hands, and small, transparent waves seemed to erupt from it’s forehead. The will- o - wisps stopped in midair as the waves hit them. They hovered in midair, now at the Ralts’ control.
The Ralts gave a little squeak, and the will o wisps surrounded the Kecleon and Mankey, who stared curiously as the little balls of fire multiplied, and began to spin faster and faster around them, until they stopped, and hit them with great force.
The Mankey squealed loudly, and fell to the ground, beaten. The Kecleon stood its ground, and turned an orange color, due to its type change.
“No! Mankey!” screamed the short man, falling to his knees.
“Not so fast, chick.” said the man with the Kecleon, and threw another ball to reveal a small, squishy purple Pokemon, a Grimer.
The girl smiled, and looked ready to continue, the fierce battle would go on.
“Bah! A psychic type can beat a poison type any time!” whispered Rick to Andy.
“Ralts, psychic!” yelled the girl.
Ralts did the same move, it grabbed its head, and transparent waves began to erupt from it. When they hit the opposing Pokemon, the Kecleon grabbed its head and wailed, while the Grimer turned into a puddle of sludge.
“Now, Vulpix, use ember on Kecleon!” screamed the girl.
The Vulpix opened its mouth, and puffs of steam erupted from it, and when they hit the Kecleon, they turned to fire, the Kecleon screamed in pain as more smoke and steam touched its body, turning to fire. Some of it missed and touched the ground, but still burst into flames. The Kecleon fell back, fainted. Andy was amazed at how this girl had taken on these Rockets.
“Grimer, Kecleon, return!” yelled the Rocket. The girl smiled at her victory, but then the man drew one more Poke Ball, saying,
“Not so fast, I’ve still got one more!”
“Hey, no fair!” screamed the girl, angry that she was being cheated.
Andy got out from his hiding, and walked behind the Rockets, holding his Poke Balls, saying,
“Hey, hey, what’s the matter? Spread the fun around!”
The two Rockets turned to look at Andy.
“Another kid?!” screamed the short man, then the Rocket with the ‘one more Pokemon left’ threw a ball in the air, calling forth a small, worm like Pokemon, its yellow body had a red pattern on it, and a large horn was on its head: it was a Weedle, and the girl’s Vulpix would have easily defeated it, behind the trash bin, Rick slapped himself on the forehead for letting his friend be such an idiot.
“Go, Sentret!” screamed Andy, and called forth his small, raccoon-like friend, who was ready to battle this obnoxious bug.
“Weedle, Poison Sting!” yelled the man.
“Jump, Sentret, Fury Swipes!” yelled Andy.
Sentret obediently jumped in the air, dodging a million little spikes that flew by, then landed in front of the Weedle, and gave it a frenzy of scratches, slaps, and kicks, until the Weedle backed off, and the Rocket screamed,
“Weedle! String shot!”
The Weedle began to shoot a frenzy of sticky web, that spun in spiral patterns as it flew out of its mouth, and wrapped Sentret up in it.
“Sentret!” yelled Andy.
“Poison Sting.” grunted the Rocket, triumphantly, and the Weedle let loose from its mouth the many little pins, oozing with venom. For a moment, Andy could not see Sentret, then, when the spikes cleared up, there was the small mammal, wounded, its body covered in jagged cuts, it gave a small squeak, then fell to the ground.
“Sentret, no!” screamed Andy, feeling defeat for the first time as a trainer. He fell to his knees, feeling sorry for himself, and the Rockets began to chuckle.
“Wait!” screamed Andy.
“Go, Zubat” Andy still had not lost, he still had his Zubat to fight, but he had to leave quickly.
He knew Sentret could be in danger, but he had to do something with these Rockets. As Zubat and the Weedle prepared to fight, Rick dove out of the trash bin and grabbed Sentret, then dove out of the way.
“Take him to a center!” screamed Andy.
Rick just nodded and ran out of the alley, towards the center with the injured Pokemon.
“Zubat, Wing Attack!” screamed Andy, remembering how Zubat had attacked Sentret.
Zubat flew past the Weedle, brushing it with a sharp wing. The Weedle screamed as Zubat passed it again, doing its attack in the same manner. Then, Weedle fainted.
“Aw, that’s bullshit!” screamed the man, returning his Pokemon.
The other Rocket said,
“Well, you kids defeated us, now what?!”
The men turned, and so did Andy, all three were surprised to see that the girl was gone.
“Clever girl…” said the short Rocket, and ran past Andy, away from here.
The other one began to run, but Andy and Zubat got in his way.
“Not so fast.” said Andy, but the man pushed him out of the way and ran.
“Zubat, return!” said Andy to his loyal companion, then ran after the Rockets, but they were too fast for him, and they lost him. He found himself panting for breath, standing in front of the Pokemon Center, then remembered his dear Sentret, and ran in to the center, to see Rick, and the girl, sitting there, in a booth, looking worried.
“How is he?!” asked Andy.
Rick looked up.
“Good, he’ll be fine, but he must be treated to make sure the poison doesn’t infect him.” said Rick.
“You know, kid, you did not need to help me, I could have handled that guy by myself.” said the girl, looking up at Andy with cold green eyes. Andy shook under her calculating gaze.
“You’re welcome.” said Andy sarcastically.
“What’s your problem with the Rockets anyways?” asked Rick to the girl.
“I have no problem, they just got mad because I spoke my mind about them earlier.” said the girl.
“Well I would have liked to take them on, I do have something against them.” said Andy, clenching his fists.
“Not my problem.” said the girl, and she began to walk away.
“Wait.” said Andy.
“What?” she asked, stopping.
“Why did you come with us?” he asked.
“Because it’s my fault your Pokemon got hurt.” she answered.
“No, not really. We wanted to help you.” said Andy.
“Well, thanks anyways.” said the girl.
“By the way, my name’s Anderson Platt.” he said.
She smiled, and shook his hand.
“And I’m Susan Kramer. Sue, if you will.”
“Well, thanks, Sue, this is Rick Simmons.”
Rick waved.
“Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you all, really.” she said. “I like to meet new people.”
“Um…I’m going to go see if I can see my Sentret, Sue, and bye.” said Andy, going over to Rick.
“Ok.” she said, and walked away.
Andy turned to Rick worriedly, and asked,
“Where’s Sentret?!”
Rick smiled, then got up and walked to another hallway, Andy followed him, and they went into a small, white room, with a counter and a lamp. A white hospital bed was in the corner, with Sentret on it, wide awake, wrapped in white gauze. A Nurse Joy stood there with a Chansey, and Sentret squealed with delight at seeing Andy.
“Sentret!” screamed Andy, full of delight, extending his arms. His warm, furry buddy jumped off the hospital bed and jumped into Andy’s arms.
“I’m so glad you’re OK, Sentret!” screamed Andy happily.
Then, Andy turned to Rick.
“Thank you, Rick, for bringing him quickly!”
Rick just smiled, and patted Andy on the back.
“He should be OK by tomorrow, you can take those bandages off from him in the morning.” said the nurse.
“Thank you, Nurse.” said Andy, then he, Rick, and Sentret walked up to their rooms.

So now we know a few things, huh? We know Susan Kramer has some cool Pokemon, we know her name, and we know she's just awesome! I plan a cool party of Pokes for her. _________________

OMGoodness! We got to meet Susan once for all! That's great, I was sooo looking forward to meetin' her, and now we've leanred she is quite a cool, calculating and collected gal! Not only that, but she's also pretty!
What do I see here? You gave her a Ratls?! Excellet, but the finest thing was that you didn't ever let us know if it was male or female, so it's final evolution's still unknown by now. Okay, I accepted the Ralts... but the Vulpix? Oh man, I was gonna give one of mah charries a Vulpix, too! And it's GOT to be a Vulpix there in POL.
What I most liked it out of all is none other but the action-packed, well-narrated battle we got there, it was a thrill to read how these bad guys failed misserably against this girl (who was portraited to be pretty tough) I congratulate'cha for this chapter, it was very enjoyable!
By the by... does Susan get to join the crew just now? Or she does it later? Let's allow next installment to say things! _________________

Well, the next installment is here, my friend! And here we get a bit of a prologue to the battle tournament that will take place on chapter 12.
A surprise may await you during the chapters depicting the tournament.
| Quote: | Chapter 11: Getting Ready
The small, furry Sentret slept peacefully on the couch of the hotel room, for it had been a grueling morning for it, and Andy and Rick had allowed it some rest. Andy and Rick sat outside the room with the door open, Andy fuming about having let the Rockets go unharmed. But deep down, he knew those goons had no fault, it was Giovanni who had murdered his family that night.
But still, Andy was angry, he glowered at Rick, because while Andy sat there fuming, Rick was leaning on a snack machine, tearing into a bag of chips. It made Andy angry to see Rick so calm.
“What?” Rick responded to Andy’s angry look. “Look, we have not eaten, and, unlike you, Andy, I was hungry!”
They stared at each other, then, Rick coughed, Andy smiled. They began to laugh, waking Sentret up, who looked up from the couch and gave them a resentful growl. They stared at Sentret and laughed even harder.
Suddenly, in the hallway, they saw the girl they had seen earlier, Susan, passing by.
“Oh, hey guys!” she said cheerfully.
“Hi.” said Andy.
“What’s up?” said Rick in a greeting.
“The ceiling.” she said cleverly, then laughed at her own joke, then, she peered into the open door of the hotel room.
“You guys are in the same room?” she asked, arching her eyebrow.
“Yeah.” nodded Andy.
“Weird.” said Susan, then walked into a room in the end of the hallway.
“Yeah, it is weird.” said Andy, looking past where she had walked away.
Rick’s only response was a grunt and he punched Andy in the stomach.
***
Andy and Rick walked out of the Pokemon Center, into the warm sun, happy after enjoying a heavy lunch. Then, Rick remembered he had a flier for the Battle Tower, and decided to let Andy see it.
“Here, check this out.” said Rick, handing Andy the small piece of paper.
Andy took it, then looked at it. It was a small flier advertising the week’s battle tournament. Andy read it all and then decided to re-read it.
“Hey, the first round is today!” said Andy, handing Rick the flier.
“Yeah…” said Rick, examining it more thoroughly.
Andy took it back, and read it aloud.
It was written in bold silver letters, and read:
Trainer Tower Weekly Battle Tournament
Trainers, young and old are invited to attend the Quest Island battle tournaments, held every week, with a different prize. Come join us and enter some blood heated battles!
Rules:
1) Only the first sixteen participants will be accepted to make an even tourney tree, up to the final two.
2) If one has more Pokemon than the other, he can only use the same number the other trainer has.
3) Trainers battle until they are out of Pokemon.
4) No items may be used in battle.
5) Trainers must enter before the first round.
Under that text stood a picture of a blood heated battle of a Gengar and Nidorino, then, on the bottom stood more text.
This weeks prize: Three Sea Gallop Ferry Passes!
“Hey, that’s exactly what we need! Ferry tickets!” noted Rick, as they had no way to get across the Sevii.
“Well, it’s tonight, do you think we can still enter?” asked Andy.
“Sure.” said Rick, and they began to walk towards the Trainer’s Tower, assuming that they should go there to sign up.
***
Rick and Andy walked up to the tall, circular dome, large and silver, that loomed over town, and walked inside via a glass sliding door that led them to a small, square room with two couches around a small table with magazines, and several chairs. A door opposite the front door stood there, with a sign that read,
“Please Wait.”
Andy and Rick shrugged and sat down, Rick humming softly, swinging his legs, Andy looking at a magazine that told about the recent Team Rocket attacks on Kanto.
Then, the door opened, and a short, stout, bald man stood there, then he looked at them, and blinked. Then he asked,
“Are you here to sign up for the battle tournament?”
Rick nodded, then the man said,
“Well, you two are lucky, there are only two spots left!”
Andy smiled, then the man continued to talk,
“Well, one of you may come in first to sign up.” Andy got up and walked into the room with the man.
***
They walked into a small beige office, a door opposite of the one they had come in through. There were several shelves with books and the such, then a large desk, where the man sat with a mug of coffee, and a small Chatot on the table. The man gestured at Andy to sit opposite him in a small, uncomfortable looking seat.
“Well, kid, you don’t need a trainer card to battle on the Sevii. So just give me your name.” said the man, lighting up a cigarette and getting a clipboard from a shelf behind him.
“Anderson Platt, sir.” said Andy.
“Ah, nice name, kid, sign here.” said the man, handing Andy a small sheet with a list of trainer’s names.
“Thank you, sir.” said Andy, signing the paper with a pen attached to the clipboard.
“OK, kid. Come back in about an hour ready to battle, with this on.” said the man, handing Andy a small tag that read,
“Contestant Number Fifteen:”
Under that, the man had written Andy’s name in a black marker. Andy wordlessly took the tag, then the man said,
“Once your friend signs up, I can give you a little tour of this stadium.”
Andy nodded, and walked out, Rick walked in to sign up. Then, through the other door in the office, the man led them both to take a tour of the Battle Stadium.
***
They walked into the next hallway, with no doors, it only led to two other hallways, making the entire hallway form a figure T.
“Here, the two trainers called become picked, each goes to one of these hallways to a room where they get ready, then go to the stadium.” he said.
He took them through one of the hallways into a room with a mirror on a counter, and some lights. The door from there took them to the large stadium’s inside.
It was a large field with certain arranged marks, like any battlefield, and the floor was a cold grey metal, but it was dented from the fierce battles that had taken place on it.
All around this were stands where audiences could come watch the battles, and the man said,
“You usually pay to sit in the stands, but if you have your tag to prove you are competing, you can sit there free until you’re called.”
After taking a look around for themselves of the stadium, Andy and Rick left to practice battling before they came back to compete. They were ready, and willing to try to win this tournament.
“Well,” said Rick, “Since the tournament’s in less than an hour, let’s go find a place to practice our skills, then we can come back for the tournament.”
***
The two boys stood opposite of each other in a grassy field behind the Pokemon Center, holding a ball in their hands, ready to practice their Pokemon’s moves. Rick’s eyebrow twitched up, and he gave a smile. He threw the luxury ball into the air to reveal his blue and white Zangoose, claws sharp, eyes narrow, ready to battle. It got into a pose where in kneeled on one knee with it’s claws crossed in an X across it’s chest, it’s head down, it’s eyes closed.
“Go, Zubat!” Yelled Andy, throwing the Dusk Ball up to reveal his purple, furry friend. It’s wings were transparent reflecting the sun from above.
Rick seemed to be waiting for Andy to do something, Andy realized, then, he decided upon a bit of a strategy for his Zubat.
“Zubat, Confuse Ray!” yelled Andy.
Zubat launched an array of colorful waves at Zangoose, who continued to remain quite still. Until Rick yelled,
“Zangoose, use Quick Attack!”
Zangoose got up from it’s previous position, then seemed to disappear, Andy was not fooled, though, and saw the Pokemon coming up under the flying Zubat, jumping up with an extended claw, and yelled,
“Zubat, dodge from under you, quick! Wing attack!”
Zubat flew aside just before Zangoose jumped up, slashing the air with a terrible sound. Then, Zubat came down again to strike at it with a wing attack.
“Eh? Zangoose, come on, hustle! Now use slash!” yelled Rick. Zangoose jumped up in the air, bringing Zubat down with one fell swoop.
“You’re getting good, Rick, Zubat, it’s enough, come back!” yelled Andy, then threw the other ball to reveal his Sentret, now all better.
“Go, Sentret, Quick Attack, then slam on my cue!” yelled Andy.
Sentret came up to Zangoose with a blinding speed, knocking it over sideways.
“Now, slam!” yelled Andy.
Sentret jumped up and slammed the falling Zangoose in the stomach producing a hollow sound, and making Zangoose fall backwards, into the ground.
“Whew, Andy, you’re mighty!” gasped Rick, returning Zangoose.
“Now, let’s go heal up, then on to the tournament!” yelled Andy with great anticipation.

Aw'right! The crew has arrived to the Trainer Tower! It's about time we get some hot-blooded battles 'round here!
To be frank, I must admit that you described the Tower pretty much the same way I did, and funnily enough, I imagined the whole thing would be just like you wrote it, even the 'T'-shaped hallway! but alas, when I read the system that runs the tournament I knew I couldn't have written it better myself! ... naturally... I'ma bad at logic stuff.
I believe Andy's got natural talents for this battling thing; I hope he gets lucky in this tourney. Come to think of it, you wanna know what'd be better for ya? I think you should wind through and narrate only the battles that Andy and Rick will have; I know you have the whole tourney set up in your head.
I await next addition patiently, hope to see some serious action around! _________________

We have an update!
I thank you for the advice, AABM, and am glad to have a good writer like you advise me on these things.
| Quote: | Chapter 12: Bad to the 'bone'
Andy and Rick sat in the small waiting room of the Battle Stadium, waiting to be told what to do. They were both a bit excited. Rick sat in a small wooden stool, throwing his Luxury Ball up in the air with one hand, then catching it before it fell to the floor. Andy sat in the couch, looking forward with blank eyes, trying not to show how excited he was about the battles ahead.
Rick looked up and saw Andy. Then laughed, and said,
“Little buddy, you’re trembling!”
Andy looked up, then said nothing. Then he realized he was trembling, and blushed. Suddenly, the door of the small office flew open, startling the pair of friends and making them jump. There stood the old man with the Chatot on his shoulder.
“Hi, kids!” he said, then, after a brief pause, “Ah, you’re participating in the tournament, am I right?”
“Yes, sir.” said Andy and Rick at the same time.
“Then, put your tags on, then go to the stadium seats until you’re called.” said the man, who looked like he was in a hurry. Then, he closed the door to tend to some unknown business.
“Well…” said Rick.
They stood up and walked outside, then went through another outside door into a small hallway that led to the seats for the spectators.
“Halt!” said a tall man in a police uniform, guarding the entrance to the seats.
“Fifty PokeBucks!” said the man. Then, he saw Andy and Rick’s contestant tags, and just let them pass. Andy and Rick took seats near the back, where they could easily get out if they were called. The tiny blue seats were uncomfortable, but they would do.
“Hey, look, the show is starting!” said Rick as the lights turned off and a man walked into the middle of the stadium, in a white and black striped shirt. Followed by a shorter man in a tuxedo, who held a microphone, then spoke into it.
“Ladies and Gentlemen! Tonight is a night of fierce battles, may you get into your seats and get ready! Trainers, when you are called to battle, please meet Mr. Baxter, the manager, in the main lobby!”
“That must be the old man.” whispered Rick to Andy, then the man continued talking,
“Tonight is the first round of battles, people! May you enjoy it!” the man walked out as everyone began to clap. Then the man in the stripes stood on a stand near the battle area, where there was a red flag and a white flag. He had a small microphone headset, which he spoke into.
“Ladies and gentleman, I’m Michael Chance, and I’ll be your judge tonight for our very first round. If you wish to know who battles who tonight, feel free to take a pamphlet from one of our employees, or look at the tourney tree by the entrance. Now, calling the first two contestants…..”
Andy and Rick sat there for a while, watching the battles. After a bit, they got bored, and walked up to the tourney tree to see who they were up against.
“Look! I’m up next!” said Rick, looking at the list of names. He pointed at the text that read:
“Rick Simmons -VS- Bart Benton”
“Who are you up against, Andy?” asked Rick.
Andy ran down the list until he found his name:
“Anderson Platt - VS “
Andy could not read the rest. Someone had written over the name of his next opponent in blue marker, it read, “The Skull.”
“Eh? What’s wrong?” asked Rick, then looked at the graffiti.
“The skull?” asked Rick, then, he wiped the sign with his shirt, revealing what was under it,
“Anderson Platt - VS - Jason Harvey”
Andy looked at the name of his next contestant.
“Jason Harvey. I wonder who he is and why someone wrote ‘the skull’ over his name.” said Andy.
Rick shrugged, then said, “Who cares?”
Then, over the intercom, the voice said,
“Rick Simmons and Bart Benton!”
“Oh, that’s my cue.” said Rick, waving goodbye to Andy.
“Good luck!” said Andy.

Rick walked into the T shaped hallway after being told to turn to his left. He did, and opened the only door there to find himself in the small room where contestants got ready for the next battle. He saw the dim lit room with no furniture, all there was besides a few stools was a large mirror. He paced around the room until his name was called.
“Rick Simmons!”
He walked into the small arena, and stood in his respective spot, as he had seen the other trainers do before the battles here. His blood was pumping fast. The judge on the stand pointed in the opposite direction and screamed,
“Bart Benton!”
A short, scrawny kid with red hair came from the other doorway, and stood in his spot, looking at Rick with a nervous gaze.
“Both contestants will use the same amount of Pokemon that the one with the least amount of Pokemon has!” explained the judge.
“Rick Simmons, how many?” asked the judge.
“Oh, eh, one.” said Rick, reacting.
“And you, Benton?”
“Three, sir.” said the small kid.
“Then both trainers shall use one Pokemon!” said the judge. “Take your picks!”
The kid confidently drew a small blue great ball, ready for battle. Rick held up his Luxury Ball for the judge to see, who then nodded, held up the white flag, and said,
“Their will be no time limit.”
He put the flag down dramatically, and screamed,
“The battle will now begin!”
Rick threw his Luxury Ball in the air to reveal his shiny Zangoose, who stood in its usual position, on one knee with its claws in an X across its chest, and its head down, eyes closed. The audience seemed to look at it with a sense of reverence.
“I choose you, Sandslash!” yelled Bart, throwing the great ball in the air to reveal; after a brief blue light, a small, agile looking Pokemon with a brown body, large, beady eyes, a hooked nose, and spikes on its back.
Rick drew his PokeDex, curious about this Pokemon, which looked just as formidable as Zangoose.
“Sandslash, the mouse Pokemon. Sandslash often grows new spikes and claws after shedding. It can curl itself into a large ball and roll into its opponent with a great force. It can also shoot out its spikes and grow new ones quickly.”
Rick closed his PokeDex, then looked at the Pokemon. It seemed formidable, and he knew he had to be careful as could be. He decided to wait for it to attack. For a time, not one trainer moved. Sandslash stared at Zangoose, and Zangoose continued it’s position.
“Sandslash, Poison Sting.” whispered the kid, so cautiously, Rick barely heard it.
The Sandslash reared up, and it’s spikes began to glow faintly with light purple. Then, they began to ooze with liquid poison, and then began to shoot at Zangoose in great numbers.
“Zangoose, get ready.” said Rick slowly.
Zangoose stood in it’s position until the spikes were about to hit it, then, it opened its eyes, stood up, and jumped out of the way, leaving all the spikes to hit the hard metal floor.
Zangoose continued to dodge the seemingly infinite barrage of poisonous spikes, until it got hit by the last few, and collapsed on the floor. Lucky for Rick, Zangoose had immunity ability, which freed it of any poison effects. Bart looked surprised at the fact that Zangoose had not been poisoned, and Rick decided to keep that to himself.
“Zangoose, quick attack!” yelled Rick at his chance.
Zangoose lurched forward with blinding speed, heading straight for Sandslash, and then Bart pointed a finger and yelled,
“Rapid Spin!”
It all happened so fast Rick barely had time to think. Sandslash curled itself into a tight ball, covered in spikes, of course, then began to spin around Zangoose, who got up and looked around, confused. Then, he ball of spikes hit its target, sending Zangoose flying into the air, then falling to the ground. It rolled a little, then stood up, covered in thin, long quills. Blood flowed from them onto it, making it look more scary, instead of weakened as it was by all these spikes.
Up in the stands the crowd gasped, Rick could not see Andy among the crowd.
“Zangoose, Pursuit.” said Rick.
Zangoose got lost once more in a blur, then appeared halfway across the arena, heading towards Sandslash.
“Rollout!” yelled Bart.
Sandslash curled up again and began to roll at Zangoose quickly, but Zangoose got out of the way.
“Crush Claw!” screamed Rick anxiously.
Zangoose turned to the bypassing ball of quills and let out a deep hiss. Then, it brought it’s claw back, it began glowing. Zangoose brought the claw down on the rolling Pokemon so hard, it got out of its tight curl, flew into the air, and fell down. Quills went flying everywhere. Bart cursed, then pointed at Sandslash.
“Use Crush Claw.” he said.
Rick decided to do the same.
“Zangoose, Crush Claw!”
Both Pokemon began to walk in circles around each other, then, the Sandslash ran at Zangoose with glowing claws, Zangoose stepped out of the way, then, got the brown rodent on the side with his own crush claw. The Sandslash went flying through the air, and landed beside its trainer, its body twitching slightly, then, collapsed and fainted. Bart fell to his knees beside his fallen Pokemon.
The referee pointed a red flag at Bart and Sandslash, and the white one at Rick and Zangoose.
“The winner is Rick Simmons and Zangoose.”
The crowd stood up and began to cheer and clap, and for a second, Rick stood there bathing in his glory. Then he regained control, knowing that more battles would come, and walked up to Bart, showing him a hand.
Bart looked up at Rick, then stood up, nodded, and shook Rick’s hand. The crowd roared.
“Zangoose, return.”
***
Andy was so excited to have seen Rick win over that Sandslash, that he had gone to the T shaped hallway to wait for Rick. Andy ran to him as he saw him walking out, and began to congratulate him, patting him on the shoulder.
“Thanks, dude.” said Rick, then they walked back to the seats of the stadium.
Rick was congratulated by a few people who saw him sitting down, and he felt proud of his feat. Then, he and Andy continued to sit there and watching more battles. Andy became agitated when he wasn’t called for a while.
The referee stood on the stand and spoke again.
“Now, for the last battle of the day.”
The crowd stood up and clapped.
“Anderson Platt, against Jason Harvey!” yelled the referee. A bunch of people sitting near Andy began to chant,
“The skull! The skull! The skull!”
***
Andy sat in the small room with the mirror and the stools, nervous about who this opponent was. He wondered what would happen. Then, he heard the referee,
“Anderson Platt!”
He walked out onto the arena, blinded for a second by the spotlight. Then, the referee gestured towards the other doorway,
“Jason, ‘The Skull’ Harvey!”
The audience once again began to chant,
“The skull!”
For a second, nobody came. Then, the door flew open, and Andy’s opponent strutted in. Andy examined him from head to toe as he stepped into the spotlight, kissed his fist, and threw it into the air, sending the audience chanting louder.
He was a tall kid, with crazy and wild hair died a deep purple color. He was medium skinned, and on one ear wore a series of rectangular golden earrings. On his other ear he wore an earring with a silver skull on it. He wore a large black bandanna over his head, and he wore a large black vest and baggy black shorts.
A purple undershirt under his vest showed a picture of a bloody red skull. He had a ring on his right hand that was gold, with a skull on it, and a silver ring on his left hand with an opened mouthed skull, a large sapphire in the middle of the gaping mouth.
He wore small black tennis shoes. He had deep maroon eyes. He looked at Andy and grinned a sinister smile, showing flashing white and pointed teeth. To Andy, he truly looked creepy. A large scar went across his left eye, and in the light, Andy could see, a small fraction of his right middle finger was missing.
“How many Pokemon does Anderson Platt have?” asked the judge.
“Two.” croaked Andy, aware of the staring crowd, and Jason staring straight at him.
“And Jason Harvey?” asked the judge, looking nervously at the skull.
“One.” said the boy in a slow, too deep voice. He drew a Dusk Ball from a small purple belt at his waist, a belt that also held a switchblade with a handle shaped like a bone, and a set of brass knuckles. Andy finally concluded that this kid was just making himself look scary. Who needed a blade at his waist for all to see?
The kid held up the ball in small, bony fingers.
“Then both trainers shall use but one Pokemon.” said the judge.
Andy decided to wait and see what the kid had before choosing his Pokemon.
“Go Duskull!” said Jason, and threw his ball in the air to reveal a small, grey ghost with a bone pattern on its back and a skull for a head. It had no eyes, but empty black pits that glowed red at times. Andy shivered.
“Go, Zubat.” muttered Andy, knowing that this would have to be a very close match.
“You may begin.” said the judge, bringing down his flag.
“Zubat, Confuse Ray.” uttered Andy, hoping to eventually get close enough to use bite, a dark type move that might be his only advantage.
The small rays emitted from Zubat’s mouth, but the Duskull seemed to disappear into thin air just as the waves were about to touch its body. It appeared a few feet back. Andy looked at his small, hovering bat, and yelled,
“Zubat, Astonish!”
Zubat disappeared into the darkness to appear in front of Duskull, and hit it with a full blast of a frenzy of tendrils of pure darkness, weakening it by a lot.
“Duskull, move it, come on!” yelled Jason, but Duskull stood still, it was flinching.
“Bite, Zubat!” yelled Andy.
Zubat leaned in on the small ghost to bite it, but then it disappeared.
“Behind you, Zubat!” yelled Andy, but it was too late, at the same time Jason yelled,
“Night Shade.”
Darkness enveloped the arena, then, Zubat began to writhe in pain.
“Bite!” yelled Andy.
“Disable!” yelled Jason.
Zubat’s bite did nothing, as it was disabled.
“Wing attack, Zubat!” said Andy, getting worried.
But Zubat’s sharp wing did nothing, as Duskull again disappeared.
“Duskull, quit dawdling and get a move on. Astonish!”
“Zubat, astonish!” yelled Andy.
Both Pokemon collided with each other and their attacks, and both landed at their trainer’s feet.
“Supersonic!” yelled Andy.
“Confuse Ray!” yelled Jason.
Both attacks collided, but the supersonic was much faster than confuse ray, and made the attack subside, and hit Duskull.
Duskull began to totter in the air like it was drunk.
“Bite!” yelled Andy.
Zubat flew at the oblivious Pokemon and finished it off with a fierce bite to the face. Duskull fell unconscious to the floor.
“The winner is Anderson Platt!” yelled the referee.
“Duskull, return.” said Jason. Then he spat at the ground and walked away. The crowd stood up and began to boo.
Despite his victory, Andy felt something strange. For a while he just stood there, listening to the crowd as they instead began to cheer for him, apparently amazed more than angry that he had beaten this kid. |
Yes, the 'bone' humor was meant to point at Jason, in my hopes to emphasize that Jason is eventually going to be a major thing to the story.
I hope you sincirely tell me wether you enjoyed this chapter. _________________

Okey, I breesed through this last chapter some time ago, but I can't believe I haven't posted here already earlier!
Anyways, I liked the battles, but I suppose you got a bit short for Andy's... I mean, I now know that 'The Skull' (lol this guy) has one pokémon, but... you could've stretched it a bit? I mean, giving this guy another pokemon a tthat would have done more justice.
I wonder what will next addition bring to us? I hope this gal gets another cameo again _________________

As promised, here is the long awaited Chapter 13 update of large proportions!
I worked extra hard on this chapter, little by little because I've been a bit busy lately, and to tell you the truth, I like how it turned out.
I hope you enjoy it too.

| Quote: | Chapter 13: Eradicate that Raticate!
Andy woke up in the Pokemon Center’s Hotel Bed after a brief dream of his clash with Jason the night before. He looked down the bunk bed to see Rick still asleep. Then he looked at the clock on the wall to see that it was about an hour before they had to go for the next rounds of the tournament. He decided to just sit and ponder while his mind was fresh from sleep. He stirred a bit in his white sheets, then got into a more comfortable position.
He thought about his thirst of revenge for the Rockets, then wondered why Rick was so willing to help him, or why Rick was so eager to travel with him. It seemed strange. He then remembered other thoughts, and forgot this thought.
He remembered how he had faced the Rockets who had attacked Susan Kramer and how he had beat one of them, then they had run off like cowards. Then he remembered Susan. She was smart, and strong. He liked that. He wondered what would have happened if he would have not intervened in the battle, and stayed to see what Susan would do.
She was very tough, so he guessed she might have done it by herself. But then he remembered how they lunged at her, and thought that his trying to save her had been for the best. He wondered if he’d ever see her again. Then, he remembered what she had said.
“You’re staying in the same room? Weird.”
He also wondered why Rick had wanted to keep close to Andy, then his question on Rick’s trustworthiness popped once again into his head. Was Rick really who he appeared to be? He shook the thought from his head. But then he realized Rick had always had a close watch on Andy for some reason, like he was waiting for something.
“Boo!” shouted Rick, snapping Andy out of his daydreaming.
Andy swore loudly, jumping up high in his bed, hitting the ceiling due to being in the top bunk. He rubbed his head, and swore an even fouler oath. He looked at Rick’s content look.
“Watch your mouth, boy!” said Rick, laughing.
Andy frowned. He looked at Rick in the eyes and gave him the foulest choice oath he’d heard from Amin back at home. Rick frowned.
“I was just joking, dude. Hell, it’s not my fault you were sitting there day dreaming about who knows what?”
Andy’s head throbbed. He rubbed it, then looked at the glower on Rick’s face. He truly looked comical. Andy had to bite his lip so he would not laugh.
“What? Dude, you’re acting weird this morning.” said Rick, then walked into the bathroom.
“Look who’s talking.” muttered Andy as he pushed himself off his bed.
***
Rick belched loudly, putting down his cup as they sat in the Pokemon Center, talking over a plate of pancakes and for Andy, an egg with some bacon.
“Rick!” said Andy, blushing, looking around to see if anyone had noticed.
“What?!” said Rick, looking confused. “Andy, you seem to be on the edge today, what’s wrong?”
Andy’s eyebrow arched up. He felt that Rick knew what he was thinking. He decided to forget the subject, and not to bring it up at any time to Rick.
“Nothing’s wrong with me, Rick. You’re the one who’s all edgy.” said Andy between his clenched teeth.
“Aw, what the hell.” said Rick, dropping his fork and wiping his mouth with a napkin. “Well, how about we forget that little argument and go down to the stadium?” asked Rick.
“Sure.” nodded Andy, remembering that no matter what, Rick had always been his good friend.
***
“Alright, eight battles yesterday’s round, eight contestants left, so this means four battles today.” said Rick, looking at the tourney tree.
“And look at our luck, Andy! I’m in the first battle of today’s round, and you’re in the second! Heck, one of us is bound to win the competition. Four battles today…eight trainers, eh? Cool. Then, the next round is four trainers, then the two winners face off for the final! Sweet…”
“Yeah…” said Andy. He looked at the tourney match up to see his next opponent. He was excited for his next battle, it would be great. He read the tree.
“Rick Simmons - VS - Jane Swindle”
Under that,
“Javier Gomez - VS - Anderson Platt”
Andy was very excited as he remembered that all the rounds would probably end that same day.
***
Andy and Rick sat in the stands, eagerly waiting until they were called. After the usual introduction, the referee walked into the arena and began to speak to the crowd.
“Ladies, Gentlemen! I welcome you to the next round in our tournament! We must try to finish the battles today, so we’d like to get started as soon as possible. Rick Simmons, Jane Swindle, please get ready for battle.”
Rick gave Andy a small slap on the back and walked off, ready for battle.
***
Rick strutted into the stadium, feeling just fine, and ready to win the battle this round. The referee spoke through his microphone,
“And now, Jane Swindle!”
A short blonde girl entered the room. Ha! A girl? Rick could win this easily.
“How many Pokemon?” asked the referee.
“One!” they both said at the same time.
Rick grinned, this seemed too easy. The girl tossed her ball into the air, to reveal a large horse like Pokemon with a mane of fire, Ponyta. The Ponyta snorted a burst of smoke from its nostrils and began to paw at the ground. Ha! This was a girly Pokemon. Rick was confident he would win.
“I choose you, Zangoose!” called Rick, sending out his tall, and long clawed Pokemon, who was anxious for battle.
“Zangoose, swords dance!” yelled Rick before the girl even had time to open her mouth.
Zangoose began to do a frenzy of dance like steps while clawing at the air with six inch long talons, 1hich retracted into their longer, more curved form. Zangoose kept on going faster until it was just a blur. He was going so fast, and in such a manner that for a second it looked like a bunch of swords formed in the light refracting due to Zangoose moving too fast. Zangoose stopped, on one knee, holding out its right hand, extending his claws, that looked sharper than before. They gleamed and glistened in a silvery glow.
The girl looked confused, she had no clue that now Zangoose’s moves would be quicker and stronger. For a second, she seemed to not know what to do.
“Quick attack, Zangoose.” said Rick calmly.
Zangoose dashed at the Ponyta at full speed, but just when it was about to close in on it, Jane screamed,
“Ponyta, bounce!”
The Ponyta sprang up in the air, right when Zangoose was about to hit it. Zangoose stopped, confused. Then Ponyta was about to land on it.
“Heads up!” screamed Rick, and Zangoose let itself drop to the ground, and rolled to one side, right before Ponyta hit it.
Ponyta landed with a resounding crash, leaving a dent in the cold metal floor.
“Give it a taste of your Slash!” screamed Rick.
Zangoose ran at Ponyta, ready to attack.
“Agility!” screamed Jane.
Ponyta’s body glowed dimly due to the agility attack, and it moved out of the way with blinding speed. Zangoose looked frustrated that an enemy’s speed was faster that his own.
“Pursuit!” yelled Rick.
Zangoose began to chase the Ponyta just as fast as Ponyta was running. It caught up to Ponyta and gave it a full body tackle, knocking it over on its side.
“Crush claw.” said Rick.
But just as Zangoose was about to hit the Ponyta, who was now standing up, it sped out of the way.
“Stomp!” yelled the girl.
Ponyta came at Zangoose and gave it a good loud stomp with a powerful hoof, sending Zangoose to the ground.
The tall blue Zangoose stood up, and ran at Ponyta, who stepped out of the way. They began to walk in circles around each other. Zangoose got on all fours. Ponyta stood up on two legs and tried to stomp Zangoose, who moved out of the way.
“Slash!” yelled Rick.
Zangoose jabbed at Ponyta’s head, sending it back a few paces.
“Tackle, Zangoose!”
“Stomp, Ponyta!”
Zangoose ran at Ponyta, then Ponyta stood on two legs, making Zangoose stumble down. Then, Ponyta brought its hooves down to stomp Zangoose, when Rick yelled,
“Crush claw!”
Zangoose dropped down and rolled away from the stomp attack, then stood up and slashed at Ponyta’s flank, then, as Ponyta began to stumble, Rick yelled,
“Finish it! Tackle!”
Zangoose lunged at the Ponyta and send it down with a loud crunching sound.
“The winner is Rick!” yelled the referee.
“Bah! Too easy.” said Rick. “Zangoose, return.”
Rick waited for nothing, he just walked out proudly.
***
Andy was at the hallway, waiting for Rick to come out, waiting there already, since he was up next anyways. He ran up to Rick, who reacted proudly to the shower of compliments and congratulations by Andy and a few other people who were in the room working, or doing something.
“Little buddy,” said Rick, “You’re up next, show them your best, eh?”
“Sure!” replied Andy eagerly.
“Ok, bye.” said Rick, bear-hugging Andy, then strutting out of the room.
“Now, it’s my turn. Whew.” muttered Andy.
He took a deep, slow breath, and walked into his waiting room. He checked how he looked in the mirror. Of course, it was not too good with his raggedy clothes, but he at least wanted to be clean and presentable. Then he heard the referee,
“Anderson Platt!!!”
He walked out to find the referee there, and his new opponent. A tall, hunky man with long curly hair and bushy eyebrows, Javier Gomez, who bore a band around his head with the Pokemon League symbol, a large checkmark in front of a Poke Ball.
“Anderson Platt, two Pokemon, right?” asked the referee.
“Yes sir.” replied Andy.
“Same here.” said Javier.
“Then both trainers shall battle with their two Pokemon!” announced the referee.
“Trainers, you may…begin!”
Andy waited, as usual, for his opponent to choose. But when he did the same thing, Andy decided to break the tension and begin.
“Go! Sentret! I choose you!” he screamed, throwing his Premier Ball in the air, with the usual explosive sound. Then, as a dim flash of crimson light faded, there stood Sentret, fangs baring, looking like he was getting stronger and stronger as time progressed.
“Eh, these people.” muttered Javier. “Eh, this will be over soon enough. Go Teddiursa.”
Out came a short, brown, fluffy bear Pokemon that almost looked fake, as it did not move, but sat on the floor like a teddy bear. The only sign of life was a crescent mark on its forehead, that glowed faintly. It’s snout was a lighter brown than it’s body, with a black nose, and round ears.
Andy found this very amusing. Such a hunky man and such a feeble Pokemon.
“Teddiursa, scratch.” whispered the man, Andy barely heard it, and read his lips.
“Sentret, stay where you are, use defense curl on my cue.” whispered Andy, thinking that it was a good method to use, not letting your opponent know your next move. He learned something new, and the thought made him smile. He was growing up already.
The Teddiursa seemed to move so sweetly and innocently towards Sentret, one would have thought Teddiursa wished to play with Sentret. It stood a few inches from Sentret, and squeaked so sweetly the audience began to laugh. Just as the Teddiursa seemed to begin to back off, Andy noticed a twitch on it’s paw’s claws.
“Now!” yelled Andy anxiously.
Sentret barely had time to curl up into a ball and form the barrier when the Teddiursa’s claws came down. Teddiursa recoiled, surprised that the attack had missed. Andy decided on a strategy of defense this match, to match the apparent innocence of the small Teddy Bear Pokemon.
Andy did nothing, but waited for the small bear to make it’s move. It pawed at the air and feebly squeaked. To Andy, this seemed too cute, the Teddiursa had been acting so cute it was annoying.
“Lick.” called Javier, pretty confidently.
Teddiursa seemed to get close to Sentret again, Sentret stood his ground and did not move a muscle, until Andy whispered something to it, and it’s ear twitched a little as it prepared for another defense against the assault.
Teddiursa got close enough, and seemed to stop to lick it’s claw, the next moment, it was running at Sentret, on all fours, with impressive speed.
“Now.” whispered Andy, one step ahead of the opponent.
Sentret sprang up high with it’s tail seconds before Teddiursa would have attacked it. Teddiursa stopped, confused. Sentret landed behind it.
“Scratch and quick attack.” uttered Andy.
Sentret turned around, claw level, and slashed the Teddiursa from shoulder to shoulder, taking off a bit of fur and a small bit of skin. Teddiursa was knocked forward by the surprise attack, and Sentret lunged forward and tackled it with quick attack, sending it to the ground.
“Stay there.” said Andy, deciding to wait and be cautious before attacking again.
“Fake tears!” yelled Javier.
Sentret seemed to twitch, then stared at Sentret with wide watery eyes, then recoiled, seemed to fall back, and dramatically began to squeal, large tears welling up in its eyes. Sentret seemed to recoil, for a moment regretting his assault on a fellow Pokemon.
“No, no, Sentret, stop it before it cries! Slam!” yelled Andy frantically.
Sentret recoiled for a moment, then gave Andy a resentful growl, then jumped into the air and landed on the now wailing Teddiursa with such force and weight, that the small furry creature yelped and stopped its act immediately.
“Fury swipes!” yelled Javier.
Teddiursa lost all its sweetness and ran at Sentret, thrashing raised claws at it.
“Defense curl!” yelled Andy.
Sentret fell to the ground, curled up. When the attack ended, Andy yelled,
“Fury swipes, full power!”
The barrier disappeared, and before Teddiursa could move, Sentret uncurled itself, claws raised in an X formation, and slashed at the Pokemon, sending it a few inches to one side. Teddiursa fell, giving a feeble squeak, and it’s crescent mark glowed dimly then stopped.
“Teddiursa, return!” grunted Javier. “Time for the real deal, go Raticate!”
Out came a large brown rat, fowl and snarling, with a lighter brown body and large whiskers. In its eyes was a rabid expression of bloodlust and hatred. Andy recoiled at the sight, this Pokemon was truly horrifying. It’s feral snarl even seemed to intimidate Sentret a little.
“Sentret, return.” said Andy, deciding to change his strategy, and give Sentret a rest.
“Go Zubat.” he said, and out came his Zubat, hovering in the air.
“Fly over Raticate.” ordered Andy.
Zubat hovered just above Raticate, taunting it with a few clicks and screeches. Raticate gnashed its teeth, its claws clicking together.
“Astonish.” said Andy.
Zubat disappeared for a split second only to appear as a dark glowing mass, hitting Raticate full in the face. It did not cause much damage, but it made Raticate cower for a few seconds, giving Andy a chance to attack.
“Supersonic!” yelled Andy.
Just as the Raticate looked up again, the waves of the attack, which flew out of Zubat’s gaping mouth, hit it, making it blink softly for a few seconds. Then it comically began to totter to the side.
“Wing attack!” yelled Andy, pointing.
Zubat flew downwards and dive bombed the woozy Pokemon, cutting at it’s flanks with it’s rough wings. Raticate fell to one side, losing balance.
“Bite, Zubat!”
Zubat flew down in a dive bomb position again, so that when it’s sharp needle like teeth hit the Raticate, it’s hairless tail twitched straight, and it’s mouth flew open, it screamed in pain. Then, as Zubat began to suck with a leech life, the Raticate foamed at the mouth.
“Quick attack!” yelled the exasperated trainer.
Raticate recoiled, then slashed at Zubat’s face. As Zubat backed off, Raticate jumped up and brought Zubat down. Now Zubat writhed on the ground, face down, as Raticate stood on top of it, snarling.
“Super Fang.” said Javier, smirking.
Raticate tore at Zubat’s wing, but when Zubat moved the wing, the attack instead came to Zubat’s head, it’s whole head nearly fully in the Raticate’s gaping mouth as it began to chomp down, nearly crushing Zubat’s skull.
“Wing attack!” yelled Andy, scared to death for his Pokemon.
Zubat began to flap its short wings up and down to try to get the Raticate off, Raticate backed up a little, and let go of Zubat’s head, but did not get off. Zubat began to roll over to get off of the Raticate, then when it successfully got out, it tried to fly and fell to the ground, fainted. Sentret was now Andy’s only hope.
“Zubat, return!” Yelled Andy. “Go, Sentret, I choose you!”
Sentret bared its teeth at the Raticate, who did the same back. Both Pokemon began to circle each other, sniffing the air. Now it would be a clash of claws and fangs.
“Fury Swipes!” yelled Andy.
Sentret ran at the Raticate and began to slash at it’s side.
“Tackle, Sentret!”
Sentret tackled the Raticate’s side, knocking it over.
“Slam!” yelled Andy, then, Sentret, using its tail to spring up, as usual, it went up higher than ever, and landed on the Raticate, who began to screech like a crazed animal, but it was out of breath.
“Raticate, tackle!” yelled Javier, and Raticate ran at Sentret, trying to tackle it, but Sentret continued to spring up in the air.
“Sentret, keep dodging, get ready to use slam.” said Andy.
“Quick attack!” said Javier, becoming frustrated.
Raticate ran at Sentret, who sprang into the air, landed on it’s attacker’s head, knocking it down, and landing on the other side of Raticate, then jumping up and using it’s slam attack, right on Raticate’s back.
“Super Fang.” said Javier, now he looked angry.
Raticate ran at Sentret, ready to bite with teeth from a wide open, foaming mouth.
“Defense curl!” yelled Andy.
Seconds before Raticate was close enough to bite Sentret, the impenetrable barrier formed around Sentret’s curled body.
Raticate and Sentret began to circle each other again, both seemed to be getting extremely tired.
“Quick attack!” yelled both trainers at the same time.
Raticate and Sentret ran at each other, but, seconds before they collided, and idea hit Andy.
“Sentret, slam!” he yelled.
Seconds before they collided, Sentret sprang up into the air and landed with it’s slam attack on Raticate’s head. Raticate made a noise that resembled a squeal, then fainted.
The referee pointed his white flag at Sentret.
“The winners are Zubat, Sentret, and Anderson Platt!”
The crowd cheered. Javier walked up to Andy and gave him a high five, from the stands, Rick stood up and gave Andy a thumbs-up.

Kinda short, eh? lol
I hope to get feedback soon, and I will begin the next chapter as soon as I can. Bye. _________________

So, we got yet more battles from our favourite crew of trainers from PFD, ah? That rocks! And even both of them got to win their battles, which means that for the next round, it is almost totally sure that they'll get what they desperately need... some tickets to get the heck outta there and let the story proceed.
I don't know how tough will things get from this point onwards, but I know something: Andy has to either catch more pkmn or have Sentret evolved, I mean... if he gets to battle Rick, how is he supposed to win with a Sentret? You tell me.
By now, I've noticed that you have this nifty ability for titles and I like the way you do that!
Your narrative seems quite the same as easy-to-read as always and it always got these ocasional personality in the narrator that makes me smile.
| Quote: | | Ha! A girl? Rick could win this easily. |
That was an example of the Narrator having Personality. That means that it would seem that the narrator is saying his/her thoughts and is giving an opinion about the situations or what he/she understands.
Those might be small, but those sure make me wanna read on! Dunno, I think that when the narrator sometimes has personality, the story has some cool air around it. _________________

Here's a fresh chapter. It has a few things in it you might find intiresting.
| Quote: | Chapter 14: A hot situation
Andy walked out of the stadium, feeling proud of himself. He felt good. He was glad he had won the match, and for the first time since he began his trainer’s career, he was starting to feel a little cocky. He was, in fact, almost certain he’d win this tournament. Who could best him and his five year old and well trained Sentret? Well, someone could, he just did not know, and was feeling so well he never thought about it at that moment.
He walked into the small room where all trainers waited when they were about to be called, and looked at himself in the mirror. He stood there, with a slightly more rough appearance then when he had left home. He was definitely leaner, his blond hair messy. He liked what he saw. He stood there, looking mean, drenched in excitement and sweat, looking crazy from the wild feeling a trainer gets when he or she battles. The adrenaline was still pumping in him, and he felt almost amused at how childish he was being.
Once he had his feet on the ground again, he held the giddy feeling of victory in his gut, and walked out of the room-trying not to strut. He walked into the hallway, and out the door, for the next round was in about half an hour, and it would decide which two people would move on to the finals.
Andy wondered if he’d have to fight Rick. The thought vexed him. The thought went away as Rick ran and clapped Andy on the back.
“Congratulations, little buddy.”
“Thanks, Rick. Thanks.”
“Ok,” said Rick. “Well, let’s go rest our Pokemon and warm up a little for the next match, there’s something I’d like to show you.”
“Ok.” said Andy, his eyebrows arching up. He ran his fingers through his blond hair, then breathed in the scent of the coming winter, and began to walk after Rick towards the Pokemon Center.
***
“Ok…so what did you want to show me?” asked Andy as he and Rick walked out of the Pokemon Center from healing their Pokemon.
“Oh, that’s right.” replied Rick. “I think you’re ready to learn a bit about TM’s before your next match.”
“What’s a TM?” asked Andy.
“Well,” said Rick, “There are TM’s, Technical Machines, and HM’s, Hidden Machines. I’m going to show you about them.”
“OK.” shrugged Andy, curious.
“TM’s are a way of showing your Pokemon a move it does not know.” said Rick.
“What are they, though?” asked Andy, now excited.
“Here’s one.” said Rick, fumbling in his bag.
He drew a tiny disk, resembling a CD or one of Amin’s old porn DVD’s.
“How does that teach a Pokemon a move?” ask Andy, skeptical.
“Well,” said Rick, “a TM is set with a move already, this one’s hidden power.
He drew his PokeDex from his Pocket and pushed a button on the side. A small slot came out, perfect for the disk.
“Would you like it if Sentret learned Hidden Power?” asked Rick.
“Sure.” said Andy.
Rick slid the disk into his PokeDex, then his PokeDex spoke in a robotic voice.
“Booted up a TM. TM number ten contains the move ‘Hidden Power’. Would you like to teach a Pokemon said move?”
Rick pressed a button, nodding.
“Please aim PokeDex at the Pokemon, please.” said the PokeDex.
Rick gestured at Andy.
“Go, Sentret!” yelled Andy, throwing the red and white capsule in the air. Out came Sentret, looking eager.
Rick aimed the PokeDex at Sentret, who was apparently being scanned.
“Sentret is able to learn Hidden Power. Would you like to proceed?” asked the small device.
Rick pressed another button. The PokeDex gave a series of sounds. Rick bent down and put the screen in front of Sentret’s eyes, Sentret watched, its ears twitching. Andy watched curiously as well. A small video played of the Pokemon Smeargle, short, apelike, with it’s brush tail.
The Smeargle stood up and began to close it’s eyes, concentrated. A faint glow emanated from it, then green and yellow balls of light flew from apparently nowhere.
The video stopped. Rick now put the speaker of PokeDex near Sentret’s ear, and a recorded copy of some other Sentret’s cry came.
“Telling it what to do through sound waves.” whispered Rick to Andy.
After a few minutes, the cry stopped, and Sentret sat up straight again. Rick drew out the small disk slot again, and it fell to the ground, charred up, and crumbled.
“Eh? It’s broken.” said Andy.
“Not at all.” laughed Rick. “Unlike an HM, a TM breaks after one use. HM’s are rare, I don’t have one, so, we’ll have to learn about them later. Tell Sentret to use it’s new move.”
“Right.” Andy said.
“Every Pokemon’s hidden power is different.” stated Rick.
Andy nodded, then stood behind Sentret as if this was a battle. Andy pointed at a fist sized rock on the ground.
“Sentret, use your Hidden Power!” he yelled.
Sentret stood up straight, then began screeching loudly. It put it’s palms together and began to glow white. It bathed itself in a pearly glow. It’s whole body glowed. Then, the glow changed to a silvery color, then began to get a purple hue.
Sentret closed it’s eyes, and clasped it’s palms for a few more seconds. The glow grew brighter, then, as Sentret released both it’s palms from each other, and bundled balls of purple light flew from it’s body, hitting the rock, which began to glow with the same silvery hue.
As the attack ended, the rock shattered. Andy was amazed at the power of this attack. He felt that with this new attack, his chances of winning the tournament were higher.
“Well?” asked Rick. “What do you think, Andy?”
Andy nodded, then gave Rick a high-five.
***
Rick and Andy stood at the front of the Stadium, looking at the newly added tourney tree, and each individually hoping they were not pitted against each other. They finally saw it, four trainer’s names. The two winners of these two battles would face off against each other. Andy read the tree, and sighed with relief, but stiffened with eagerness.
“Susan Kramer - VS - Rick Simmons”
“Anderson Platt - VS - Bill Nixon”
“Eh,” said Rick, “I have to fight that one girl we saw before.”
“Yeah.” said Andy. “I wonder who this Bill Nixon is?”
“Don’t know.” said Rick.
Andy headed on to the stands, Rick went ahead to the hallway for his battle with Sue. He was very confident in himself, but did not know what to expect. He was confident in his Zangoose through and through, and had no doubt he’d pull through.
His Zangoose. That tall, furry figure with deadly claws. Every time he thought of his Zangoose, he remembered how they had met. He daydreamed about this as he walked into the waiting room. He then remembered that he’d never told Andy how he had received Zangoose. Noting to ask Andy if he was interested, he looked in the mirror and brushed his brown hair back.
Then he was called.
“Rick Simmons!”
He sighed, looked at himself in the mirror, winked at his own reflection, and walked out. Susan was already there, ready. She saw him, but in her eyes, there was no hint that she had ever met him outside of this battle.
Meaning she would have no mercy.
“And, Rick Simmons has one Pokemon.” said the Referee, remembering previous battles. “So each trainer will use one Pokemon! Begin!”
“I choose you, Zangoose!” yelled Rick, and summoned his Zangoose, who stood on all fours, bearing silver fangs, foaming at the tips. It’s tail grew bottle-brushy and it’s eyes glowed red like hot coals. It began to make a chattering noise, then grunted,
“Zangoose!” and continued to chatter and click it’s tongue.
“Vulpix, go!” yelled Susan, throwing a PokeBall low, allowing it to dramatically slide across the floor before it revealed the small red fox, then flew back into Sue’s hand.
The two Pokemon stood before each other, sniffing each other and squeaking. The large blue cat ferret, and the small red fox with the bunch of tails, and a white belly. Neither trainer gave an order for what seemed like ages.
The Pokemon quit sniffing each other and getting to know each other, then separated with a brief nod from Zangoose, and a sharp snort from Vulpix. Then they got ready for battle. Zangoose’s tail grew fluffy again, and the tails of Vulpix also seemed to puff up, then became normal. After those brief signs of respect for each other, they were ready to battle.
“Zangoose, approach the Vulpix and get ready to use Pursuit.” whispered Rick.
Zangoose slowly proceeded, Vulpix stood completely still, waiting. Zangoose now stood on all fours, edged over the right flank of the Vulpix, ready to chase. It stood still, like a cat about to pounce. Just as it’s position became flawless, the silence and slowness of the battle were broken by Sue’s voice.
“Vulpix, confuse ray!” she screamed.
Vulpix opened it’s mouth and gave a bone chilling howl as it’s tails fluffed up, and it began to glow. Rays of light began to emanate from the back of it’s head, coming towards Zangoose, almost invisible.
“Now!” screamed Rick.
The small cat-ferret meowed, then hissed, and veered out of the way of the attack, then pounced on Vulpix, sending it rolling to one side. Vulpix squealed loudly as Zangoose pounced on top of it and began to flail it wildly.
“Ember!” yelled Sue, and Vulpix looked up at the Zangoose on top of it, and breathed the steam-that-turned-to-fire, right into Zangoose’s face. Zangoose squealed in pain and jumped off. It now stood on it’s hind legs, it’s arms dangling on the sides.
“Crush claw!” screamed Rick.
Zangoose ran to Vulpix and brought it’s large, bladelike claw up into Vulpix’s chest, then face. The impact sent Vulpix to the air. It landed with a loud noise, and gave a feeble squeal. Susan’s face contorted with rage, and she screamed,
“Vulpix, punish this thing with a taste of your speed. Use quick attack.”
Vulpix ran, small flames trailing behind it, and jumped up to tackle Zangoose full in the chest, Zangoose fell to the floor, but stood up, angry.
“Again.” ordered Sue.
Vulpix flew at Zangoose again, but Rick screamed,
“Zangoose, crush claw!”
Zangoose hit the Vulpix with a sharp claw seconds before the Vulpix would have landed. Vulpix fell down, a large bloody scar across it’s face, it whimpered. Not from the scratch, but the impact had been so much, it had caused lots more pain.
Susan looked overcome with grief. Then, she looked angry. She spoke.
“Vulpix, Will-O-Wisp.”
Vulpix began to glow as it had when it had used Confuse Ray. It’s tails lifted up, it’s eyes glowed, it opened its mouth and squealed. Then, a bunch of blue and black balls of fire flew at Zangoose, who did not move. The impact looked hard. Zangoose fell to the ground, steam flying from under its body, where the fire had singed it’s fur and peeled it’s skin.
Rick grimaced as he saw Zangoose’s wounds. But he remained calm, and gave clear orders.
“Crush claw.”
Zangoose jumped up from being on all fours, holding it’s claw forward. It ended up getting Vulpix on the side, because the small jump had helped it run straight for Vulpix, then lift up it’s claw. The impact was hard, and Vulpix was knocked over. It’s side was bleeding, and, as it stood up, Rick suspected by it’s gait that Zangoose had nearly cracked one of Vulpix’s ribs.
“Vulpix, are you OK?” asked Sue, worried.
“Vulpix, Vulpix!” squeaked the small fox, nodding, then baring it’s long, thin, white fangs at Zangoose, who did the same in turn.
As they faced each other, both Pokemon looked exhausted, dirty, worn out, bruised, and scarred. This was truly a harsh battle. It was unclear at the moment who would win this.
Susan decided to try a last resort.
“Vulpix, OverHeat!”
Vulpix opened it’s mouth wide, and immediately began to breathe large streaks of fire surrounded by bright red rings.
The attack hit Zangoose hard. All Rick saw was Zangoose’s body flailing as the bright fire hit it. Zangoose got a grip of itself as the attack ended. Rick winced as he saw the damage. Zangoose’s skin was peeled in places, and it’s fur was singed.
“Zangoose!” yelled Rick, scared.
“Vulpix, finish this! Use body slam!”
Vulpix jumped up, and seemed ready to beat Zangoose. Rick felt very sorry for Zangoose, but he also wanted to win the match.
“Zangoose, get out of there and use crush claw!”
Zangoose rolled past the Vulpix’s jumping attack, so that it landed on the ground unprepared. Then, Zangoose used its claws in an X formation to use it’s crush claw. It formed it’s arms in an X position.
Vulpix cried out and ran out of the way. Rick had to do something, Zangoose was about to faint. Both Pokemon were heavily wounded, Rick wondered why no one stopped the battle. He decided he had to Risk it, he was not the type to give up. Zangoose looked like it was about to faint.
Suddenly, Susan’s Vulpix gave out a yelp, and fell to the ground. It was over.
“The winners are Rick and Zangoose!” yelled the judge.
“Zangoose, come on!” yelled Rick, running out of the room.
Zangoose followed him out of the arena, out of the stadium, and into the Pokemon Center. It was a strange sight, a boy running into a Pokemon Center with a large blue Zangoose running behind him, its skin peeled, it’s fur singed. A Nurse Joy, sensing their urgency, ran out of the room.
“Come on, Zangoose, let’s get some help!” yelled Rick, but at that moment, Zangoose collapsed into the floor.
The Nurse Joy ran back in, two Chansey running behind her with a stretcher. |
There will be a bit of a twist next chapter, so stay tuned.
I know you might not like how that short battle ended, though.... _________________

I guess you're right about that. Deep inside, I wanted Susan to win, because I knew that she (and her Vulpix and Ralts) could offer more of a show against Andy and his Sentret AND Zubat... cometo think of it... Andy would have lost terribly in said scenario.
But let's face it, a tiny Vulpix wouldn't be a match for a Zangoose any time soon. Not in paper, not in the metagame, and certainly, not in PFD, either.
But wait, you just said something about TMs! Wow, I didn't know you were actually going to use one of those! Back when I told something about them to you, I was just wondering if you would do it more like in the game with the CDs stuff, or more like in the series, where the trainers just teach their pokes the move they want them to learn.
If you ask me, I'm leaning towards the series' way, that's why I did it myself at POL, remember? When Token taugh Eevee to use Shadow Ball? I didn't use CD's or anything, so.
Either way, I liked this chapter nontheless, you wrote a hot-blooded battle right out and Sentret learned Hidden Power, wonder what's the type of that Hidden Power? Let's see what this story brings us next. _________________

Here's a good chapter. Newest addition, Chapter 15.
| Quote: | Chapter 15: final match
Andy saw Rick running out of the arena, Zangoose running behind him. Andy was having trouble deciding if he should follow Rick, or stay for his battle, which was up next. Then he saw Susan return Vulpix and run out of the arena as well. He made up his mind and ran out.
“Hey, hey! Platt! Are you crazy?! You’re up next!” said the guard of the entryway to the stadium.
Andy pushed past him and continued running out of the stadium, through the dirt road, past the humble brick buildings, and into the place where Rick would surely be, the Pokemon Center. He ran inside through the automatic doors, but saw no sign of Rick.
Susan stood there, her Vulpix had just been healed in it’s PokeBall, then she turned and saw Andy.
“Where’s Rick?!” asked Andy.
Susan looked worried.
“Zangoose just fainted here on the floor, and they were taken to emergency!” said Susan.
Andy asked a passing Nurse Joy where the emergency room was, and she showed him the way. For some reason, Susan followed. They entered a large white room with various shelves chock full of medicines, powders, and other remedies for the various cases they got.
In the corner of the room stood Rick, looking down at Zangoose, who lay in a hospital bed, gauze around one arm, a bag of ice on it’s side, and a tank of IV hooked up to it’s other arm. A doctor in a white lab coat stood there, tapping the burns, and checking Zangoose’s temperature with a mouth thermometer. Zangoose itself was asleep, with a serene expression on it’s blue striped face.
“Andy.” said Rick, turning to him.
Andy patted Rick on the back, and sniffed.
“Aw come on, don’t be a pussy.” said Rick. “The doc says Zangoose will be Ok.”
Then, he saw Susan.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
“I feel responsible for what happened to your Pokemon, so I came to check on it.” replied Susan, running her hand through her long hair.
“I appreciate it.” said Rick, nodding. Then the doctor finished his scribbling on a clipboard and turned to look at the three teenagers.
“Zangoose is fine, he’ll be out of here by tomorrow morning. But I suggest you don’t fight in the tournament.” he said in his professional style voice.
“Thanks.” said Rick, then, “Too bad we can’t be in the finals.”
“True, but we can inform the people at the stadium about it.” said the doctor, “I’m afraid this might cause a bit of ruckus, they’ve never had a Pokemon hurt right before the finals. I’m sure they’ll decide what to do. Let me call them. Can you get out now? I need room to work.” The three obeyed, and went out to sit a while in the waiting room.
***
The three sat for a small while in the waiting room of the Pokemon Center, on a small booth. No one spoke, until Susan broke the silence.
“Guys, I’m really sorry. First, you have to save me from those Rockets, then, I injure Zangoose badly in battle.”
Rick shuffled a little, then, he said,
“That’s ok. It’s a battle, You’re supposed to try to hurt the opposing Pokemon.”
“Yeah, but I’m not supposed to leave it in the hospital!” replied Susan.
“Hey, I’m a little hungry, guys, lets go have some lunch.” said Rick.
“Sure.” said Andy, standing up.
They went into the next room of the Center, and sat in a booth at the little café.
After getting their orders, they sat there for a while, eating their food, and talked a bit to know each other better. The three seemed to enjoy each other’s company.
“So,” said Susan between spoonfuls of soup. “How did you two meet?”
“Well,” began Andy, “It’s a bit of a long story.”
“Do tell.” said Susan, breaking a biscuit in half.
“Well,” said Andy, “I spent part of my life in an orphanage, see.”
“Ok..” said Susan, listening without a word.
“Well, I was in the orphanage, and I was playing with my Sentret- they let me keep it at the orphanage, as long as it stayed outside. Sentret suddenly jumped over the fence outside of the orphanage, and I could not get him.”
“I came, and got Sentret for him.” said Rick. “We talked a little for a few days, then one day, he moved into an old man’s house.”
Andy continued for Rick,
“That old man did not want Sentret, so I entrusted it to Rick.”
Susan nodded, having another biscuit for her soup.
As they recounted how Andy and Rick had met, a memory of it formed in Andy’s head, of how that had been, the fateful meeting of him and Rick.
The sun beat down on the small yard of the orphanage, where a bunch of small kids played together in a small playground. In a corner, away from everyone else sat a small blond haired boy, petting a Sentret. The Sentret suddenly began to squeak, and it ran off, jumping over the fence of the large green campus.
“Sentret, wait! Please come back!” screamed the kid.
“Come back! Come back!!! Friend! Come on!”
The Sentret continued running.
A tall brown haired kid came along, walking slowly, muttering to himself.
“What the…” said the kid as Sentret bumped into him, he nearly fell down.
“Come back, Sentret!” yelled the blond haired boy in the orphanage.
“Eh? That’s someone’s Pokemon!” said the kid to himself, and ran after the Sentret, down the dirt road.
He eventually caught up to the small mammal, who found it very amusing that a human had trouble catching up to him. Then, as he picked up the squirming Sentret, he began to walk toward the orphanage.
“Hey, kid, this yours?” asked the brown haired kid.
“Yes, yes. Thank you.” said the small blond haired boy. “Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.”
“No, problem, kid, I know how Pokemon can be sometimes.” replied the brown haired boy.
“Well, anyways, I’m Andy.” said the short, candid blue eyed boy, holding out his hand.
The other stared for a moment, then smiled, shaking the skinny, bony hand.
“And I’m Rick Simmons, nice to meet you, Andy.”
They laughed, then talked for a bit.
Andy stopped thinking about this as a man walked up to the table. He was a “Gentleman” trainer, in a brown coat and floppy hat. He was a bit short, and had graying hair, and dark hazel eyes. He looked like a respectable figure.
“Yes, can we help you, sir?” asked Susan.
The man coughed, then asked,
“Are you two boys by chance Anderson and Rick, from the battle arena?”
“Yes, sir.” replied Andy curiously.
“Well, see, the center told us that Rick could not compete in the final battle of the tournament, because of how badly hurt his Pokemon is.”
Susan fingered her Vulpix’s PokeBall, blushing deep red, then violet, and finally, a deep grey color that made Andy bite his lip to not laugh. She distracted herself by fingering the brown highlights in her black hair, and muttered something about how she needed to re dye her highlights. It was obvious how bad she felt about having hurt Rick’s Zangoose. Meanwhile, the old man continued:
“So, we’ve decided to let Andy and his opponent fight for the prize, there’s not much else we can do. We already asked Bill Nixon, so, Andy, are you ok if we go ahead and have the battle today?”
“Yes, sir.” said Andy.
“Then, I’ll be seeing you in the arena in an hour.” said the man, and walked away.
“Well, good luck, Andy.” said Rick, patting Andy on the back.
“Yeah.” said Andy, handing a slice of bread to Sentret, who sat under the table, with only Andy knowing it.
“Rick, I could have beaten you if it would have been a double battle, you know?” said Susan.
“And why is that?!” asked Rick.
“Because double battles are my strong point.” said Susan.
“Ok…” said Rick.
“Well, care to go with us to see Andy’s battle?” asked Rick between mouthfuls of Spaghetti. Andy began to choke on his drink unintentionally.
“Sure.” said Susan.
Andy coughed, and swung his leg, causing Sentret to give a squeal from under the table. All three people looked under the table to see Sentret. It was funny, a small, feeble mammal, shaking it’s whiskers, squeaking, and a large slice of bread, bitten, on the ground beside it. Andy continued to choke and began to hiccup. The group got quiet, and then began to roar with laughter. Some people on a table nearby turned to see what was happening.
“What was that about?” asked Susan.
Rick snorted, then replied, “I don’t know, I guess Andy’s a shy guy.”
Rick recoiled as Andy stepped on his foot hard under the table.
“No need to be nervous.” said Rick.
This time, he moved his foot before Andy stepped, causing Andy to step on Sentret’s bushy tail instead. Sentret gave a high pitched howling sound, and everyone in the room turned to look at the table.
“Eh, I….uh, seem to be, uh, having some issues.” said Andy, hitting himself on the chest.
“Sentret, return.” he muttered, holding his ball under the table.
***
“What the hell, Andy, ‘issues’?!” laughed Rick as the three walked out of the restaurant into the center.
“Shut up, I had to make an excuse and hide Sentret.” said Andy, slapping Rick on the back.
“Will you two quit ranting and get on with whatever you’re going to do?!” said Susan as she moved out of the way as a Nurse Joy passed by with an injured Machop on a stretcher.
“Aw, whatever, let’s get ready for the arena.” said Andy.
“Yeah.” said Rick, as he and Andy began to walk up to their hotel rooms, and Susan stayed behind talking to a Nurse at the counter in the center.
***
Rick and Andy walked down the stairs of the PokeCenter, ready to head down to the stadium. Susan was already there waiting for them, in a pink blouse with a black undershirt, and regular black women’s pants. She was sitting down petting her Vulpix and giving her Ralts a small red cube that looked like a piece of candy.
“Hi, Sue, are you ready to go?” asked Rick.
“Yes, I am.” said Susan, holding out two PokeBalls and muttering, “Return.”
They walked slowly down to the stadium, very slowly - for there was still time left. They spoke while they walked.
“So, where are you guys headed for, or, what do you do?” asked Susan.
“Long story.” said Rick. “Andy has a bit of a goal for himself. I just want to find rare Pokemon.”
“Well,” said Susan, “I get the feeling there’s more to that.”
“Well…you want to know why I’m an orphan?” asked Andy.
“Well…if you can tell me.” said Susan.
“I am an orphan because…Team Rocket’s boss….killed my family.” replied Andy.
Susan became pale. Her eyes grew wide. She gave a small squeaking sound.
“That’s….so sad….I’m sorry.” she said, putting a warm hand on Andy’s shoulder.
“That’s ok..” said Andy, feeling miserable.
“And you want to get revenge on the Rockets.” said Susan.
“How did you know?” asked Andy.
“Well,” Susan replied, “What you just told me explains a lot. I saw the fire in your eyes when you fought those Rockets that attacked me.”
“Yes. Exactly. My only quest in life is to become strong enough to find that Giovanni and avenge my mother, father, brother, and my Sentret’s mother.” said Andy between his teeth.
“And I’m here to help him, as crazy as his ideas may be.” said Rick.
Susan thought for a minute, then said,
“But I’m certain you had not thought about what you’re going to do when you find Giovanni.”
Andy looked thoughtful for a moment.
“Kill him.”
“But how?” asked Susan. “If you do that, you’ll be no better than him when he murdered your family.”
Andy was outraged. He looked ready to slap someone.
“Some people must be killed in order to stop their vicious circle. People are dieing out there, you know! And it’s because of those Rockets!” he screamed angrily.
“Yes.” said Susan. “But you are not trying to kill him for the people, you just want to avenge your family!”
“And what if that’s all I want!?” screamed Andy. “I’ll be doing the world a favor!”
“Some favor…” Sue retorted, “killing off an individual.”
“You know what?!” said Andy, who was cut off by Rick.
“Calm down people, quit arguing. Susan, you’re making a point, so are you, Andy, but cut it out, you’re acting like babies!”
“Right…” said Andy, feeling the color drain from his face.
“Sorry…I guess I got carried away…” said Susan, turning away, blushing.
“Well, we’re here, it’s time.” said Rick as they walked up to the stadium.
“See you in a while.” said Andy, walking into the dome as Susan and Rick headed for the stands.
As Andy walked inside, he realized it was quite late already, the sun was going down, and the hallway felt dark.
***
“This is the final battle of this tournament! Since Rick Simmons is unable to attend, the champion can either be Anderson Platt, or Bill Nixon!” yelled the referee.
“On this side, we call forth Anderson Platt!” yelled the referee.
Andy walked into the room, a large spotlight blinding him for a few seconds.
“And over here, we have Bill Nixon!”
A short, fat, bald kid entered the room, his hammy fist wrapped around a blue PokeBall, the great ball. Two more hung from his waist, another great ball, and a regular PokeBall.
“What’s up with the raggedy clothes?” asked the fat kid.
Andy frowned. He did not like this kid right from the start.
“Show some more respect.” muttered Andy.
“I’ll show you respect when you beat me in battle.” spat the kid.
“Fine, then, let’s begin, I have two Pokemon!” screamed Andy.
“And I, three.” said the kid, smirking.
“Then both trainers must use two Pokemon, the loser is the one who loses both Pokemon in battle.” announced the referee.
“Then, let’s get happening! Go, Meowth!” screamed Bill.
After a blue flash from his Great Ball, there was a small, catlike Pokemon with brown feet, black ears, a long tail, two narrow eyes, long, retractable claws, and a large coin on it’s forehead, with white fur. It smiled to reveal a pair of vicious fangs. It licked one of it’s claws and then yawned. As egotistic as it’s trainer; and if you ask me, I doubt this Bill has a lot to brag about, but, we’ll see.
“Go, Sentret!” screamed Andy angrily, throwing his Premier Ball high in the air, allowing it to fall to the floor with a resounding crash, then the flash of red light, which formed into his small, brown Pokemon with the striped tail and the black ears, with pink flesh on their interior.
“Hah! What the hell is that?! Meowth will have no trouble with your stupid mouse!”
Andy was outraged.
“He’s not a stupid mouse!”
“You’re right.” laughed the kid, “He’s a stupid rat!”
Andy felt like he wanted to strangle this kid, he wished he could wipe that smirk off the kid’s face.
“Shut the hell up and quit bluffing! If you’re really that good, fatty, then move already!”
Now, if you would have seen this closely, you could have realized that the kid’s smirk was off by the time Andy said the work “fatty”, and the thing is, Andy might as well have spat in the kid’s face than call him that, for this was one of these kids who never accepted what was true. Andy wondered why the referee was not stopping them.
“Gah, Meowth, use slash!” he yelled angrily.
Meowth got up and ran at Sentret with blinding speed, and before Andy knew what hit it, two large scars spread across Sentret’s body. Andy felt angry.
“Sentret, slam!”
As Sentret vaulted itself off the ground, though, Meowth moved out of the way quickly, and Sentret fell to the ground.
“Scratch!” yelled Bill.
“Defense curl!” screamed Andy.
Meowth ran at Sentret at prepared to slash it’s face again, but then, Sentret curled up and formed the small invisible barrier, and Meowth looked surprised when it’s claws bounced off of the thin air.
“Fury swipes!” yelled Andy.
Sentret uncurled and slashed at the surprised Pokemon, who tried to back off and tripped, falling to the floor.
“Slam!” yelled Andy, seeing this as a chance.
Sentret jumped, and landed hard on the Meowth’s stomach, despite it’s feeble weight.
“Gah, you idiot, Meowth, get up and use bite!”
Meowth sprang up and landed on Sentret, it’s fangs on the small mammal’s neck.
“Sentret! Hidden Power!” screamed Andy desperately.
Sentret tried to shake the Meowth off, but, it was holding on tightly to Sentret’s back, and was not even touching the ground. Sentret screamed, and began to glow. Then, the purple balls of light began to fly everywhere, some hitting Meowth. There were loud screams from Meowth, then, a large explosion of purple light. With a loud scream, the bruised and burned Meowth was sent flying through the air, and landed in the middle of the arena with a loud crunching sound. Steam was sizzling off the Meowth’s convulsing body.
“Tackle.” said Andy.
As Sentret ran at Meowth, Bill screamed at it as if it were a tool of war.
“No, stupid cat, get up! Get the **** out of the way!”
Meowth slowly stumbled to it’s feet, only to be sent to the floor again by Sentret’s tackle.
“No! No! get up, you stupid cat, I’m not joking around!” yelled Bill frantically.
“Finish off. Quick attack!”
Just as Meowth was trying to get up again, Sentret slammed into it’s side. Andy grimaced at the sickening sound of breaking ribs. Sentret fell and began to wail, it, too, seemed to have hurt from slamming into the ribs of the Meowth. Both Pokemon were down.
“Sentret, return!”
“Stupid cat, let’s see if you get any dinner tonight, Meowth, return. Go, Pidgey!”
Out came a small brown bird with black lining in it’s eyes, a pink beak, cream colored feathers, and three large crests hanging from it’s head. It gave a deep hooting sound, and began to screech loudly.
“Go, Zubat!” yelled Andy, calling forth his purple winged companion. This time Bill did not jeer him.
“Pidgey, wing attack!” yelled Bill.
“Poison sting.” said Andy.
Pidgey ran straight for Zubat, who hovered just a centimeter above the ground. But just as Pidgey opened it’s wings up to attack, it was brought to the floor by a barrage of small purple spikes. It’s mouth began to foam, it was now poisoned.
“Now, Zubat, wing attack!” screamed Andy.
Zubat began to flap it’s short wings, hitting the Pidgey with them, then, Bill yelled,
“Gust!”
Pidgey began to flap it’s wings, and a large tornado took control of the stadium.
“Zubat, get out of the way! Use Air Cutter!” yelled Andy.
Zubat stormed right through the tornado, flapping it’s pair of glowing wings wildly. Two more tornados flew towards the gust, and the gust disappeared, then, they went on and hit the Pidgey, who was sent flying towards it’s trainer, and landed on the ground, with scars all over it’s body from the sharp air.
“No! Pidgey, get up!” yelled Bill.
Pidgey forced itself up, and began to screech wildly.
“Pidgey, quick attack!”
Pidgey ran at Zubat, who flew higher in the air.
“Wing attack!” screamed Bill.
“Fly away!” yelled Andy.
Zubat flew through the arena, the Pidgey close behind, chasing.
“Confuse ray!” said Andy.
Zubat turned around and began to screech loudly, and the glowing waves of air touched Pidgey, confusing it. In it’s confusion, it tried to follow Zubat as it landed, and crashed into the ground.
“Pidgey is unable to battle! The winners are Andy, Sentret, and Zubat!” yelled the referee.
“What?! No! This can’t be! No! No! It can’t be!” yelled Bill.
“What were you telling me about respect earlier?” asked Andy.
“I’ll get you, you motherfucker!” yelled Bill, running up to Andy, only to be dragged out of the room by two men in police uniforms who came from the stands. Another one picked up the Pidgey and walked out after them.
“Yes! The champ!” screamed Andy, jumping up and down.
“Our champion is…Anderson Platt!” yelled the referee, giving Andy his Sea Gallop Ferry tickets, and shaking his hand.
***
“Congrats, dude!” said Rick to Andy as him, Andy, and Susan walked out of the arena.
“You’re stronger than you look.” said Susan.
“Thanks, guys.” said Andy, looking at the three tickets.
“You know what? If it would have been a double battle, I would have beaten Rick.” said Susan, “So I deserve one of those tickets to get out of here.”
“Whatever.” said Rick, taking the tickets from Andy.
“Well,” said Susan, “How’s this? If I can beat Andy to a double battle, you’ll give me one of your tickets.”
“Why me?” asked Andy, but Rick interjected.
“He’ll do it. Anytime, any place, anywhere.”
“What?!” said Andy to Rick.
“Ok,” said Susan. “Meet me at Sevault Canyon tomorrow, at morning. As soon as you see the sun come up.”
She walked away before Andy could even say anything.
“Who told you that you could accept the challenge for me?!” said Andy.
“Well, I thought you’d say yes anyways.” said Rick.
“Ok, ok.” sighed Andy. “I’ll see how tough she is.”
“Well,” said Rick, “Get ready to see Sevault Canyon.”
***
Andy came out of the shower to find Rick on the couch, looking at the TV, in their room.
“You sure beat that fat *** good today.” said Rick without looking at Andy.
“Yeah.” sighed Andy, getting into bed. “Let’s hope I have the same luck tomorrow with Sue.
***
Andy woke up with a start, bumping into the ceiling and jumping off his bunk. He hit the ground hard.
“Ouch! What the hell! Huh?”
He looked around. Rick was asleep on the couch, and stirred a little. Then he jumped up as well.
“Dammit!” he screamed.
He turned to look at Andy, who did not even want to know what that had been about.
“My Zangoose!” said Rick, jumping off the couch, and running out of the room.
Andy blinked. Then he stood up, rubbing his eyes, and went to get dressed.
***
Andy and Rick had been told by a nurse joy where to head to the Sevault Canyon. As they walked, Andy teased Rick about how he had woken up in the morning. They eventually saw it, a narrow valley, a mix of grassy patches and arid land.
They found Susan standing with Vulpix and Ralts, in a clearing of rock and sand, standing on a stone. Opposite of her was another stone, that looked quite the same.
“So you came. No time to talk, let’s get started.” she said to them.
Andy stood on the rock opposite of her,
“Go! Zubat and Sentret!” he screamed, and his two companions appeared, ready to battle.
Ralts and Vulpix stood side by side, as did Zubat and Sentret. The trainers locked eyes and began to wait to see who’d move first.
